associated with it. let's look at the air quality right now, it's unhealthy to poor across the bay area. livermore is poor for sensitive groups. the rest in red, which is unhealthy. in the north bay, air quality advisory and a spare the air alert. so poor to unhealthy again tomorrow. wednesday, we see an improvement with moderate air quality. level two storm arrives, this is a storm impact scale. rain and cleaner air, wind gusts 20 to 40 miles per hour. here's a preview. a few sprinkles tomorrow night, rain arrinin could be heavy at times. the biggest concern with this is the flooding francisco. >> leeann melendez is live in the embarcadero. >> reporter: we were told late today that alcatraz will once again be closed tomorrow, tuesday. let me give you some numbers. on a weekend like this past one, you'll see 7200, 7,200 on alcatraz. >> due to poor air quality, the national park service has canceled all tours today. >> reporter: four days of delivering disappointing news to people all over the world visiting alcatraz. >> it's one of the premiere attractions for san francisco. we booked two days ago, they canceled, refund. we bought again today and now they're canceling again and we leave friday. >> reporter: about 7200 people were not able to get on the island. instead, they were offered a toush of the bay. while impressive, this miniature model was the only way to see what the island looks like. >> see the sites, yeah. there's a nice model, but i would rather see it in person. >> disappointed? >> a little, but i understand why they did it. >> the concern for their staff and visitors ahike, you know, their concern is their safety and health. until they begin to see signs of it improving, it will continue to be the case. >> the cable cars were not running either due to pad air quality. it was this couple's first trip from vancouver to san francisco. >> you probably don't want to ride the cable car, but it is what it is. >> reporter: and this just in, the cable cars will be operating tomorrow we're told. they too see a lot of tourists and regulars on any given weekend, they see about 20,000 people. so they too are losing a lot of money. live in san francisco, leeann melendez, "abc7 news." >> everyone will be glad to see things get back to normal. a list of missing people from the camp fire still has almost a thousand names on it. >> kate larson has the story of one map's search for his brother. kate? >> reporter: well, dan, the char clark family lost their home in paradise. but more painful than losing all of their belongings was the possibility of losing a family member. >> have you guys seen a guy here, about 6'7", african-american. somebody by the name of maurice clark out here. >> reporter: jonathan clark has been looking for his big brother since they evacuated from paradise. >> we got separated somewhere along the way and we just haven't heard from him since. >> reporter: jonathan has been driving and walking from shelter to shelter, following up on leads as to where mo might be camping. >> whether or not i find him alive or not, it hurts. but i want to find him. >> reporter: today, jonathan heard his brother might be at the fair ground shelter. he wasn't inside, so he started checking every tent and camper. >> get your butt over here. >> reporter: at the edge of a line, jonathan found mo, safe and sound with his young son. jonathan immediately called their mom and put her on facetime. >> hi, what's up? >> so, i'm just giving you some good news here. >> what? you found maurice? >> i found that lunatic. >> i'm so glad you're okay. thanks, johnny. >> i love you too, mom. >> reporter: you know, like so many people in this fire, mo lost his phone. he got a replacement recently, but he didn't have numbers memorized, and a lot of his family members didn't have their phones. so when he spoke to his mom, he was relieved to get back in touch. at 6:00, more of mo's reaction. i'm kate larson, "abc7 news." >> kate, thank you. with a need for assistance so great, many are pitching in to help those displaced. >> one church is stepping up not only to provide shelter, but as our reporter explains, to find people still unaccounted for. >> reporter: the east avenue church in chico has opened its doors as an emergency shelter to hundreds displaced by the camp fire. >> one month shy of 22 years. >> reporter: that's how long blair main has called paradise home before flames overtook his house. he would not be sitting here if not for his partner. >> this time she got me out, just barely got our tail feathers burned. we barely outrun those flames. >> reporter: with all their belongings destroyed, this sanctuary is now home, thanks to the sheer amount of volunteers. >> people have walked in here and done an amazing job, not because i've done any of the organizing, but because we gave them permission to do what they do best. >> reporter: as part of the church's massive operations to provide food and medical aid, organizers are working around the chok lock to track down thon the missing list. >> we are cross referencing every person with people on that list. last night, our medical team was seeing people one by one and were successful identifying 12 people on the list. >> eliminating names has been confusing since there has been duplicates and misspellings. >> the list is going about people not knowing how to reach each other. >> reporter: right now, survivors get assistance. >> and the sheriff's office is asking people to call one of these three numbers if somebody has been found, so detectives can remove their name from that list. you can also find these numbers on our website, abc7news.com. when you see the images coming out of butte county, just heartbreaking. it's obviously natural to want to help, but how? >> in santa rosa, wayne freedman found a small company using social media for that purpose and reaching around the world to do so. >> reporter: here is the difference that roughly 13 months can make after disaster. fire it doesn't take much to remember the pain. in this warehouse on the spring of coffee park, they know all about that. >> it's important that we show the communities in butte county that we are with them. >> reporter: which smexplains w they spent extra time repairing computer screens today. for every like, they'll give $1 to butte county fire relief. >> we went through that last year, and we basically feel like the same. >> reporter: the product they distribute has nothing to do with fires, but from this building, they send out thousands every week. >> it is an oil plug replacement. you put it in your crank case, leave it there. and when you change your oil, just flip the switch. and $1 per like and more than 1200 likes by noon, this may cost them and the company some money. no worries. >> we didn't suffer a lot through it, but we can relate to what happened in butte county recently. >> video, there is no -- literally he's walking down the vote and gets stopped. >> reporter: the family believes what they saw in the video contradicts a statement from the sheriff's office and the d.a. that he was acting erratically, with aggression and attacked a deputy. >> we made no such statement. that was an original statement from the sheriff's department. >> reporter: a facebook post about the footage has been shared nearly 32,000 times. the one thing the two parties can grow agree on, this case han a catalyst, hopefully for change. >> maybe people will say we need a different standard for law enforcement. >> it's important to recognize that it is in many ways america's specific epidemic, and if people who don't feel like this is something that can happen to them, continue gdon't could be in for a long journey. a company predicts travel times in the nation's most congested cities could be up to four times longer than normal. those travel times started, by the way, today. volkswagen is making a big bet on new technology. the automaker says it plans to spend $50 billion over the next five years on what it calls an electric offensive. development will focus on electric cars, self-driving vokes and other technical innovations. under the plan, partnerships will play a huge role. vw says talks with ford are progressing. the recent turbulence in the stock market is picture, beautiful sky and coming with a price. it's all that smoke that's creating that reddish hue. smoky and hazy tomorrow. first storm arrives on wednesday and air quality will improve beginning on wednesday. here's another live picture from our tower camera. a look at the air quality for tomorrow. poor to unhealthy tomorrow for tuesday. by wednesday, continuing through friday, we're looking at moderate air quality in the bay area. on our storm impact scale, a level two, a moderate strength storm on wednesday. rain and cleaner will will arrive. there is a slight chance of thunder that day. the winds are going to switch direction as we head into wednesday coming out of the south. that is going to push that smoke out of here. you will notice that winds increase, 25 even over 30 miles an hour, especially along the coast and over the higher terrain. so if you have any loose holiday decorations, you might want to secure them. 9:30 tomorrow night, a few sprinkles not out of the question. wednesday morning, commute time, 5:00 a.m. the rain moves in. it's light initially, picking up in intensity. the yellows and oranges indicating the rain. by 9:00 a.m., it is moving into san francisco, the pernls, the east bay. as it will be moderate to heavy at times. 11:30 wednesday morning, continuing into scattered shower activities wednesday afternoon, evening. in terms of rainfall totals, look at this here. anywhere from a third of an inch in fremont to over an inch of rain. another storm follows, and that will give more beneficial rain. winter storm watch, about 6500 feet. noon wednesday until 4:00 a.m. thursday, a foot at the haguest peaks. expect difficulty traveling because of the heavy, wet, snow as the wind gusts kick up to 50 miles per hour or higher. tomorrow morning, hazy and smoky. temperatures in the 30s and 40s. hang in there, i know it's hard to both out there, but the good news is, it's going to improve on wednesday. temperatures low to mid 60s, a few upper 60s around morgan hill. temperatures in the 60s. level two storm brings us wet, windy conditions on wednesday. early morning showers on thursday. next storm coming in on friday. so late thursday night into friday. that's going to bring us much-needed rain for the bay area. as you will notice there, level one system, thanksgiving and friday. and we'll go with a drying trend for the upcoming weekend. the biggest thing is that storm that does come in with that strong southerly wind will blow that smoke out of here. >> such great news. >> and we need the rain sims we're so parched.
