calling for an fbi investigation before he'd agree to advance the nomination. hours before two women cornering flake in an elevator after he said he planned to support kavanaugh. >> you're telling all women in america that they don't matter, they should just keep it to themselves? >> reporter: but his change of heart setting in motion a request from chairman grassly and president trump ordering that supplemental fbi investigation limited in scope and lasting no longer than a week. >> we haven't had a process i think we can be proud of. >> reporter: as the day went on, he and undecided senators showing support for flake's plan including democrat and now week to investigate christine blasey ford's claims including details offered in her testimony that could be checked easily like her memory of seeing kavanaugh's classmate mark judge at a local super market shortly after the alleged attack. >> i certainly feel i could be more helpful to everyone if i knew the date he worked at the safeway so i could give a more specific date of the assault. >> reporter: that classmate likely of interest to investigators. and now investigators can ask those questions. both kavanaugh and blasey ford have said they will cooperate. and tonight president trump reacting on twitter calling this the seventh fbi investigation of brett kavanaugh. >> and to be clear this is not a criminal investigation. it is, however, a federal crime to lie to the fbi. investigators could dig up new information, but a former fbi agent tells abc 7 news it's unlikely we will see any startling revelations. >> i don't think the public should expect a whole lot different from what we have right now because it's a he said, she said case, 36 years ago. >> the fbi will report its findings to the white house but will not make any sort of recommendation. now, there are new developments on the supreme court nominee every day. we have them all on the abc 7 news app, which you can download and customize so you receive alerts when news on this story breaks. a major warning from facebook tonight. the social media giant says it's been hacked, as many as 50 million accounts compromised. more on the breach and what you can do to protect yourself. amanda? >> reporter: larry, surprisingly plenty of people we spoke with today tell me hey, achacks happ. but this was a big one. the massive breach announced friday has made it possible for hackers to take over people's accounts through facebook's view as option. the feature allows people to see what their profile looks like to another user. >> we do know how the hack worked in very basic terms, but we don't know how long the vulnerability might have existed. we don't know what it was used for by hackers. it's very messy right now. >> reporter: the social giant says it has fixed the vulnerability and informed law enforcement. access tokens for 90 million users have also been reset meaning those people will now have to log back into facebook or any of their apps that use facebook log in. finally the company has temporarily disabled its view as feature. surprisingly the major breach hasn't bothered anyone. >> normally when i do it's pictures of my have away. >> it waists too much of time and i don't think it makes too much happy. >> reporter: if you plan to sta connected you can do so safely by changing your password and having a second unique sent to your cellphone before logging in. and also you can make sure only authorized devices have access to your account and you can remove the rest. and facebook owns instagram so another question is whether any of our instagram accounts have been impacted by this. now they tell me it's still way too early to determine exactly how far reaching this breach has gone. >> all right, amanda, thank you. new at 11:00 we're hearing from the wife of a man who was punched in the face when he mistook a car for a ride share. a man gets out and punches him sending him tumbling to the ground. his wife says there was blood everywhere and he has a brain injury. >> this is going to change my entire life, not just my life but this is going to change my entire family's life. will i be able to ever leave my husband with the kids alone, i don't know. >> no arrests have been made, but police do have a description of the suspect and the car. an update tonight about a story abc 7 news first brought you at 5:00. we talked to a san francisco man who goes by the twitter handle sf streets 1. he's been documenting drug use and crimes committed right outside his window. after our story we helped him get a fast response from police. in fact sf 1 tweeted about a mound of trash whereby and the city's 311 twitter account responded promising response within 24 hours. mayor london breed just tweeted back saying thanks, 311, but we can do better than 24 hours for this mess. 311 says they'll send somebody out as soon as possible. >> one year since a shooting in las vegas killing 58 people and injuring hundreds. kim schubert and friends who were with her at the festival are going for three days of memorials, remembrances and events. >> this is time for us to be with other survivors and i think it's going to be very healing for everybody, and i'm sad for a lot of people who can't be there and obviously for the 58 angels who are no longer with us. it's kind of nerve-wracking, but i'm lacking forward to it. >> schubert and her friends were not badly injured in the shooting but still struggle with the memories. a san francisco's tamale lady has died. a late night snack for bar guests. david hall is the co-owner of the bar shot wells, and he says people loved ramos for more than just the food. >> the memories of are of her being just a sincere and dear individual, and always wanting to know who you are. >> also ramos has not been feeling well in the recent weeks and she was in the process of opening her own restaurant. she was 65 years old. the co-founder and lead singer has died at the age of 76. ballen formed airplane in 1975 and also co-owned the matrix club on philmore. the group winning different directions in the early '70s, but some members regrouped a few years later as jefferson's starship. according to a spokesman he died thursday in tampa, florida, on the way to the hospital. the cause of death wasn't immediately available. work to shore up the transit force center will start this weekend. materials for the project will start to arrive tomorrow. crews will start the fix on sunday. two cracked steel beams have been found journalists to cover the story. >> and they came and shot the congressman, they shot don harris, the nbc reporter, the cameraman, the sound man, greg robinson, the examiner, photographer, and me. >> reporter: she managed to drag her badly mangled body with one arm behind the plane's wheel well. she and the others were on that strip for nearly 22 hours. survivors were finally moved into a tent still waiting for medical attention which came much, much later. >> all i had was the goodness of, you know, some of the reporters and the producer from nbc who came and brought me rum, guyanese rum, and i took swigs of it to get through that night. >> reporter: shortly after the attack jim jones sent more than 900 of his followers at the georgetown complex to their death. he ordered them to drink a cyanide laced beverage. >> i walk around now with the scars and baggage of that tragedy. >> what troubles me most as i look back at it is we had a state department that failed us. we had local law enforcement that failed us. we had local government that failed us because there were so many telltale signs of illegal activity. and that alone should have prompted scrutiny. >> reporter: spear says jones town taught her that we have to be suspicious of groups that operate in secrecy while claiming the first amendment right of freedom of religion. they need to be reported if they commit crimes. >> i'm a roman catholic, and and looked at the catholic church and how they allowed these priests who were pedophiles to just be recirculated into another parish when they had an obligation to go to law enforcement and didn't. >> reporter: spear has become fearless after survivoring her near death experience. >> had jones town had not happened i don't know i ever would have run for public office. that's the real power of being in elected office you can spotlight on issues that need attention, you can bring people together to find solutions to problems, and it's really incredibly fulfilling. >> bay looks like it'll have the best chance of seei seeing some showers. you notice the sun is setting earlier and earlier. beautiful view of the raies of the sun trying to peek through the clouds today. it was certainly cooler especially around the bay and inland and noticeably cooler as we head into the inland communities. live doppler 7 you will notice there are some clouds around. they're sort of breaking up a bit, but that will change as we head towards tomorrow. here's a look at our temperatures, still pretty comfortable. 58 in gilroy. santa rosa, napa, 57 degrees. and looking towards the shark tank, and we do have some clouds around. those clouds will be with us tomorrow morning. beautiful view from our east bay hills camera. light showers and sprinkles. temps well below average this weekend, and we are expecting widespread showers next week. hour by hour, 1:00 p.m. you'll notice from sonoma county to mendocino county best chance of seeing some showers. 11:00 p.m. still in the north bay, and then as we head into sunday just about everyone has a chance of seeing a few sprinkles, a little drizzle. and then it all winds down with just lingering clouds for your sunday. oa it's not a game changer. just be prepared for a light sprinkle or a shower or two. and then in the afternoon because of the showers in the north bay temperatures remaining well below average for this time of year, again. so low 60s to the mid-70s. and now we're bringing in our storm impact scale. it's exclusive to abc 7. here's a look when those showers might arrive. isolated at best for noontime monday. but monday night by 10:00 p.m. we're starting to see those showers move onshore. tuesday, looks pretty wet around the bay area. g thoing to change with the timing again, but tuesday looks like when we'll see some rain, and you'll need those umbrellas. a few drops in the north bay tomorrow, some morning sprinkles sunday, and then we go monday night into tuesday. some
