parkland with the latest. stephanie? >> reporter: natasha and reggie, there's still a police presence here in parkland. a police officer telling me that they are blocking off several roadways but are allowing teachers to go back on school grounds to pick up their vehicles. as for the other belongings left behind by the students, he believes that they are still there. they're not allowed to go back on the school grounds to pick it up just yet. since we've been here, we've spoken to so many people who are angry and shocked. most of all, they're trying to get strength from somewhere, from anywhere after one of the deadliest school shootings in the u.s. happening right here in their town. overnight, thousands of people coming together in disbelief and grief. >> the rest of my days, this will be engraved in my mind and i don't think it will go away. >> leaning on each other for support as the names of all 17 victims were read out loud. >> some in the crowd chanting, no more guns. over the cries of friends and family. many of the victims, teenage students. one in the marching band, another on his way to college on a swim scholarship. some in their first year of high school. >> just but i'm so hurt to know that a lot of people i know are gone. >> reporter: police say the gunman confessed to the shooting rampage telling he heard voices directing him to carry out the attack. >> some of the things that come to mind are disturbing. >> sources say this was his instagram account. he's seen holding a pistol and another a large knife. authorities now digging deeper into the suspect's past. >> reporter: the man who told authorities about a threat the suspected gunman posted saying he wanted to shoot up a school, the tipster says he spoke to the fbi and the fbi says they're looking into it. in parkland florida, stephanie ramos, abc 7 news. president trump plans to travel to parkland, florida, to meet with families and local officials. a date hasn't been set yet. the president promises to tackle school safety and mental health issues in response to the shooting. he said that during an address to the nation yesterday. he made no mention of gun violence. the president's budget proposal would slash medicaid. the major source of funding for treating mental health problems and cut school safety programs by more than a third. developing news out of oakland where firefighters put out a fire. fire officials say when crews arrived to the house shortly after 11:00 p.m., heavy smoke was billowing out of windows. no one was inside the home and the cause remains under investigation. 4:35 now. sonoma county officials plan to ask the u.s. supreme court to review an appellate court ruling by sheriff's deputies. an appeals court held a ruling that rejected the county's assertion that deputy eric gel house was justified when he shot the 13-year-old. he was holding a bb pellet rifle he was holding a bb pellet rifle that resembled zachery was on her way to work when her car collided with a bus at ashby avenue and california street and then went into a house. she died at the scene. friends and family of hers gathered to pay respects. berkeley police believe kelly may have run the stoplight. new details about the flight that went from sfo to honolulu and parts of the engine broke off. ntsb officials say the engine suffered a compressor stall and an engine surge. it resulted in outer panels of the engine shearing off and falling into the pacific. investigators spent yesterday at the honolulu airport looking at the engine and the plane. the flight data recorders have been sent to washington for review. the flight landed safely. no one was hurt. the oakland dmv office will remain closed. someone stole copper piping from the
