A Wild Police Chase ends on highway 101 in tran, it even involved a chp helicopter landing on the freeway. One of our news crews was on the way to another story as it unfolded. Alisa harrington spoke to a witness who saw the chase and the chp officer who helped pull the man back over the railing. Reporter this is the moment chp officers and Good Samaritans pulled a man to safety on highway 101 in San Francisco. He was dangling from the guardrail of the overpass near the Caesar Chavez street exit, a 30foot drop. My grip was loosening and he would have gone over the side without the help of the Good Samaritans. Reporter drivers hung out of car windows and watched as chp helicopter landed in the northbound lanes. The pilot helped take that man into custody. Calls started coming in just before 5 00 about a person running barefoot across the highway. White male adult in his 30s, wearing a hospital gown, barefoot, carrying a plastic bag, hes running in lanes of traffic and running toward vehicles. Reporter officer williams was the first to spot the subject. He says the man jumped over the railing to get away. Hes hanging over the edge. That section of 101 is an elevated freeway. Probably 30 feet in the air. So he jumped over. Not sure what his intention was. But he was hanging on to that railing and then so i ran up there, grabbed both his wrists. Crazy, man. Crazy. Reporter marv was driving to oakland. He helped pull the man back over the rail. Hes over the rail, i didnt think twice, like let me save this life. Reporter officer williams says the man was incoherent. He was handcuffed and taken to sf general where hes been held for Mental Health evaluation. His name has not been released. Rocket dog rescue on foothill boulevard, debris from a crash covered the ground. Rocket dog volunteers tell us a car slammed into the facilitys fence at about 3 00 this morning. The shelter usually houses about 30 dogs. All were inside the building at the time of the crash. Luckily no dogs were hurt. Four bay area galleries collaborated to display a variety of paintings and photographs and sculptures. This has been art week and art weekend in San Francisco. And so it was a way to be part of that.
