lanes, otherwise no delays on the upper deck coming into san francisco. happening today, the chp expected to announce the charges for the man accused of killing an officer in christmas eve in hayward. a suspected impaired driver hit and killed officer andrew a.m. larry while he was sitting in his can a troll car. camilleri's partner was also hurt. the suspect's name has not been released. he is still in the hospital and will be booked once he is released. developing news out of the east bay, two suspects are on the run after police say they robbed a pleasant hill gas station. it happened between 6:40 and 7:10 at the mobile gas station on oak park boulevard. surveillance cameras captured these images of the suspects. police say they both had handguns in their waist bands. they got away with cigarettes, some food and an unknown amount of cash. a truck driver lost control on a san francisco street hitting two pedestrians and a car with a family inside. the accident shut down 21st avenue and auto geary boulevard. here is lilian kim. >> oh, my god, my adrenaline was totally rushing. yeah, it was crazy. >> reporter: heather king and her family had the scare of their lives when a truck slammed into their car. >> the door, yeah, it got smushed in. >> reporter: were you scared? >> yeah. >> reporter: fortunately all five family members were okay, but two elderly pedestrians on the sidewalk were injured. the driver of the delivery truck plowed into them when police say he lost control crossing geary boulevard. >> as soon as i looked back and saw that my kids were okay, they weren't dead, like i -- i ran -- i got them out of the car and i ran over to see the guy that got hit because he plunge about 10 to 15 feet. >> reporter: that pedestrian, a 79-year-old man is now in critical condition. he underwent surgery for internal bleeding. while a 66-year-old man is recovering from a broken rib and punctured lung. as for the truck driver, it appeared officers had a good idea of what happened. police say the driver entered geary boulevard according to what officers could tell from security video the light was are he had. >> was he speeding? >> it appears so but we can't tell by the video but we do believe it was against a red light. >> reporter: one wrong move with near fatal consequences, a somber start to the new year in the richmond district. police are looking for the driver who hit and killed a woman crossing 98th avenue in east oakland. the accident happened at 5:00 a.m. yesterday morning near sunnyside street. the car kept driving southbound on 98th leaving the scene of the accident. the pedestrian has not been identified. police closed that intersection for eight hours to conduct the investigation. some north bay fire victims are being victimized again and this time it's by fraud. property owners in mendocino county say they received fraudulent bills from a state sponsored fire debris removal program. authorities say if you get one of these bills, don't pay it and notify the da's office right away. this is all a scam. there are no reports of this fraudulent activity in sonoma county, but authorities say fire victims there should still be on alert. recreational cannabis now legal in california and soon customers may not even have to go to a dispensary, they could just get the pot delivered to their door. alyssa harrington deliversy. >> they can track through the link in the text, like a lifetime map of where their driver is. >> i can't stress how much things have changed over the last year in our industry. >> reporter: ceo elliott marshall started this business years ago to help patients who don't have cars or are too sick to walk. the company still needs to get all the proper permits in order to legally deliver recreational marijuana, something he says they're working on. >> we're being patient. we expect to have them coming in real soon, towards the end of this week. >> reporter: if the company gets the green light to deliver recreational marijuana there will be a one ounce limit per customer per day. happening tonight, concord city council members will discuss the possibilities of implementing district based elections. >> the move is in response to a threat from a malibu based attorney. he sent letters to cities demanding they conform to the california voting rights act or face a lawsuit. the attorney claims at large voting systems are discriminatory and prohibit protected classes like latinos from influencing the outcome of an election. fremont and martinez received similar letters. martinez began transitioning to district-based elections earlier this month. small businesses in san francisco hurt by the central subway's year long construction delay are getting help. we were in chinatown yesterday where the first checks went out from a compensation fund set up under the late mayor ed lee. the san francisco examiner reports 15 businesses seefds more than $82,000. mesh ants describing a hostage situation thursday night in wichita. the incident is known as squatting, that he is when someone reports a hoax emergency that prompts a large police response. investigators are looking into whether a dispute between two online gamers led to the prank call that may have had nothing to do with the victim. barris had previously served two years for phoning in bomb threats. more details emerging in the deadly plane crash in costa rica. investigators say that strong winds or mechanical problems most likely caused the plane to go down saund in guanacaste. ten americans and two this cute bundle of joy was the first bay area baby born in 2018. just two minutes after midnight at ucsf medical center. his due date was december 31st but it wasn't so easy. samantha powell's
