The chp is investigating a deadly crash on crow canyon road. They say a vehicle hit a pg e pole at 1 30 this morning. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Its unclear what led to the crash. Highway 101 in San Francisco is back open this morning after a bus filled with dozens of partygoers overturned near cesar chavez street. The private charter bus overturned just after 8 00 last night in the southbound lanes. The chp tells us the bus started wavering back and forth, hit the center median, and bounced back across four lanes of traffic to crash on the other side. 29 passengers plus the driver were seriously injured. 27 passengers were able to get themselves out through broken windows or escape hatches. Two of them had to be extracted by firefighters. Fire Officials Say the driver was not impaired. The driver, you know, i commend the driver. He had some injuries and he stayed on the scene and he was the very last person to get onto one of the ambulances. He wanted to make sure that verybody was accounted for, everybodys needs were taken care of. And again, he stayed here until everything was done and he was the last person to get onto a bus. All lanes of southbound 101 were back open by 2 15 this morning. The bus is owned by charter brothers, a Family Owned Company that advertises more than 20 years of experience. It conducts charters for corporate events, schools, weddings, and field trips. The companys website says its buses can transport up to 56 passengers. 23 passengers were taken to zuckerberg San Francisco general. Abc 7 news was at the hospital when a San FranciscoFire Department mass casualty transport bus arrived. A handful of people were on board along with fire personnel. A hospital spokesperson told us that 22 out of the 23 patients were in fair condition. One was in serious condition. The injuries consisted mostly of cuts and bruises but one of thes passengers may have a fracture. Other patients were divided up between st. Lukes and st. Francis hospitals. A woman died of burns and smoke inhalation along with injuries she suffered after crashing her car as she tried to escape the flames in ventura county. The thomas fire has now burned 143,000 acres. You could feel the heat from the fire. Reporter 10,000 residents evacuated. At least four people injured while trying to escape. In this fire alone, 85 homes and other buildings damaged or destroyed. A 20yearold gunman shot 20 children all between the ages of 6 and 7 and six adult Staff Members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in the city of new town, connecticut. Today more than 200 events across the country are commemorating sandy hook and asking lawmakers to do more to end gun violence. The San Francisco event begins at 2 00 at st. Were now learning that a patient who escaped from alameda countys Psychiatric Hospital tried to escape from another hospital after he had been recaptured. 24yearold Dorian Mulder managed to get out of john George Hospital in san leandro thursday night, beginning a wild chain of events. Sheriffs deputies arrested him about an hour after e got out. About what happened during that time is pretty amounts. Authorities say it began with two carjackings. He allegedly crashed this first stolen car while fighting with a 15yearold teenager inside. The victim in the second carjacking w carjackings keys were stolen. Eventually mulder went on interstate 580 with deputies chasing him. He was struck by a car, amazing survived that collision, went flying into the air, got up off the ground again and ran again from our deputies, was able to flee. Mulder was taken to Fairmont Hospital and tried unsuccessfully to escape again friday morning. Alameda Health System tells us mulder escaped through an unlocked gate at john george. Theyre investigating why that gate was not secure. Striking workers in oakland are reaching out to the city to begin mediation on monday. In a Statement Released late last night, the union says it asked the city to find a mutually agreeable mediator. 3,000 city workers walked off the job on tuesday to protest what theyre calling unfair labor practices. Senior centers, rec centers, and libraries have been shut down for the past four days with no street cleaning or parking meter enforcement. The union says it is waiting for a response from the city. Relief is on the way for a stretch of highway 37 in novato that spent a lot of time underwater last winter. Yesterday, the California Transportation Commission approved a 130,000 grant from marin county to study flooding. The money is coming from the new state gas ftax. This part of highway 37 was closed or partially closed january through february due to flooding from last years recordsetting rainy season. Moore denies the allegations against him. They date back to the 1970s when moore was in his 30s and his accusers were teenagers. A prominent judge on the federal Appeals Court for the west coast is accused of sexual misconduct. Six former clerks or interns in the ninth Circuit Court of appeals told the Washington Post judge Alex Kozinski subbed them to range of inappropriate sexual comments and conduct. Kozinski served as the chief judge on the ninth circuit from 2007 to 2014. He is still on the court based on out of pasadena. California Assembly Member matt dubabneh is resigning at the end of the month. Hes accused of pushing a lobbyist into a bathroom in las vegas and having an inappropriate sexual encounter. He denies the allegations but says he can no longer effectively serve his constituents. He says, quote, our work on behalf of womens rights must advance. So of course in Southern California once again, extreme fire danger as the red looking at warning continues into tomorrow. 8 00 at night, over 7 Million People affected. And boy, these folks cannot get a break, because 6 00, right now, winds are currently from 25 to about 35 miles an hour here. Through the rest of the day, they continue to stay up into that category. Notice the color contour from yellow to orange. As we go through the early mornng hours, thats when we see the gustiest winds. Looks like theyll peak at 41 miles an hour this time tomorrow. So right on through the afternoon on sunday, well be looking at very gusty winds there. Back home were running the gamut from about 30 degrees in santa rosa to 55 Half Moon Bay. Thats all due to that offshore wind. 38 in oakland. So were looking at temperatures really dropping off as we head into the east bay. So a live look outside where youll notice it is very still at the surface, with the upper elevations we have the wind in the valleys. Thats why were cooling off so much. Chilly in the morning, mild in the afternoon, poor air quality, dry and mild through next week. San jose, temperatures will be well above average, in fact climbing quickly. By noontime were in the 60s, upper 60s throughout the afternoon for much of the south bay. Could even hit 70 degrees. And we will enjoy this weather e more or less for the rest of the weekend and boo second weinto n. A little hazy here, 64 daly city. North bay, remember the poorest air quality here, youll notice the haze perhaps from petaluma. 66, east bay. Mid60s to upper 60s around fremont. 67 pleasanton and livermore. Overnight tonight, chilly, low to mid30s in the north bay, milder in the coast. Were very mild today, 60s on the coast, near 70 inland. More haze tomorrow as we get a little bit of a wind shift. Looking at very little change throughout the rest of the week with more sun and temperatures above average. We should be see about 60 this time of year.
