Its a messy day, especially for those trying to get back home. St. Helena with some light to moderate rain. You can see a heavy down pour at petaluma marshall road, highway 1 through inverness. As we go through wood acre, things really begin to die down. But it will be filling in. We have showers offshore. We have some very gusty winds, and the cold core of the system not coming in tonight, so between now and tonight, we are ripe for showers, even a thunderstorm. Wind gusts from 15 to 25 miles an hour, keeping it mild out there. Its a 1 on the storm impact scale. Rainfall amounts will be anywhere from a quarter of an inch to threequarters of an inch, and breezy with a chance of a thunderstorm, heaviest rain coming in tonight. 63 in San Francisco, 66 in san jose, and a soggy view from our exploratory camera where its 59. Visibility a problem out there with low 60s by the delta. We had a nice shot out here. This is how quickly its changing. Rain, breezy, in the 60s. We could line up the thunderstorms. We have the raiders game, the 49ers game. Plan on wet weather. And then at sunset, we could still look at some rain, but the hef yeaviest comes in late toni. Breaking news this morning, police say a man is dead following a shooting in san jose. Investigators say it happened around 4 30 this morning behind a building on ringwood avenue near concourse drive. The victim died at the hospital. His identity has not been released. Police are still working to identify suspects in this case. Developing news this morning. Oakland police say theyre investigating several side shows in west and east oakland. This is a look at one of the active scenes this morning at high street and coliseum way. You see a large crowd gathered at the intersection with the cars just racing around in circles. Officials say the side shows ended by 4 00 this morning. No word yet if there have been any arrests or citations. As you know, side shows have been an ongoing problem in oakland. Last month Police Arrested five people and impounded motorcycles after nearly 200 bikers performed side shows. New developments on a deadly pileup in san pablo. Overnight chp officers arrested a hit and run suspect in connection with the crash. It killed four people and injured six others. Abc 7 news was at the scene on westbound i80 near San Pablo Dam road. The crash happened just after 8 00 last night. A white sedan hit the center divide. Two darkcolored suvs were also damaged. The chp said another van flipped upside down, killing all the passengers inside. One of the vehicles overturned. The driver of that vehicle was transported for his injuries. His four passengers were all pronounced dead on the scene. Investigators say a fifth car involved left the sooecene. They caught up with that driver, the suspect, hours later. All lanes on i80 are now reopened. We first had a breaking news push alert about that accident at 9 08 last night. Chp Officials Say this happened before 11 30 last night just east of fairgrounds drive in vallejo. No word on what caused that accident. Two eastbound lanes were closed overnight. They were reopened around 1 00 this morning. More developing news. Postal inspectors are trying to find a person who mailed an explosive dwievice to the home a Police Officer in alameda. Officers detonated the device friday. They said there were injuries but have not said the extent of the injuries or how many people were hurt. Alcohol, to babacco and agents are joining that investigation. A tree came down in San Francisco, blocking traffic in corona heights. It was at Roosevelt Way where the large pine fell around 6 30 last night. It took more than an hour to clean up. Inspectors will look at a possibly damaged retaining wall and ann arb arborist will deter what brought that tree down. Bart is telling people to be careful with cell phones. There were four cell phone thefts at four stations. In some cases they were escorting some riders to their cars. Melissa harrington spoke with passengers in oakland. Reporter once again a mob of teenagers is being blamed for snatching cell phones from bart riders. The latest incident happened at Oakland Coliseum station. Two people had their phones yanked from their hands. Bart Police Arrested a 14yearold. My hope is we get bart to break this pattern. Reporter rusty staff from oakland is not surprised to hear about the thefts. He is suing bart when a group of teenagers took over his train last april and attacked him, his wife and daughter. My concern is at some point there will be a worse situation than what we had. Rather than just a beating and robbery, someone is going to pull a gun, someone is going to pull a knife. Reporter staff wants to see more bart police at bart stations and a stronger crackdown on invaders. They are concerned about an uptake in the crime. Nowadays you have to look around, know your surroundings, be cautious. Whats going on nowadays, you cant trust very much people. Reporter this is just the latest in a string of attacks at bart station. A man was punched in the head and robbed while buying his ticket. Friday a passenger was knocked to the ground inside a train in an attempted cell phone theft. A phone was snatched from a passenger at union city station and another cell phone was taken from the hands of a victim walking down the steps to 16th street station in San Francisco. Bart did launch an Awareness Campaign this summer. They posted signs like this inside trains and make regular safety announcements. Alyssa harrington, abc 7 news. Juries will resume deliberations tomorrow in the case of a man shooting and killing kate steinle on a San Francisco pier. This Panel Discussed it last week. Prosecutors believe he should be convicted of murder. Defense attorneys insist the undocumented immigrant fired the gun accidentally after finding and then handling the weapon back in july 2015. Garcia also faces the lesser charge of manslaughter for steinles death. Online sales jumped to a record high this thanksgiving on black friday. U. S. Retailers pulled in 7. 9 billion in online sales. Protesters say theyre responding to trumps threats against players who kneel during the National Anthem, including raiders running back marshawn lynch. Last week the president criticized lynch for standing for the mexican anthem and sitting for the american anthem in mexico city. The game kicks off at 1 05. The protest outside the coliseum is at noon. Longtime character actor and hollywood patriarch howard has died. You might have seen him in a movie and tv show and not realized it, from seinfeld to cool hand luke. Ryan wrote a tribute to his father, saying clint and i have been blessed to be rance howards sons. When it goes south, the atmosphere pretty dry here, but were getting showers from San Francisco down to highway 1. Palo alto to half moon bay. As the front pushes through, we still have the potential for some rain this afternoon, but the core of the main system comes in late tonight and thats when were going to get the heaviest precip. There is a Winter Weather advisory, 4 to 8 inches above 7,000 feet and the snow will begin to fall throughout the overnight hours as we get to the colder section of the storm system pushing through.
