Everyone under a heat advisory except parts of the north bay until 9 00. Temperatures in the 90s and 100s for most. Take a look at the bad air. And temperatures are already much warmer than yesterday at this time. 71 in mountain view. 62 Half Moon Bay, 5 morgan hill and no wind ata. We are looking for a wind shift late in the day for a slight breeze at the coast. We will detail that and how hot the temperatures get today. Perhaps breaking more records coming carolyn. Thank you, lisa. The driver stopped and cooperated with police. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected. Officers are not speculating on why the woman was walking on the freeway. Heavilyarmed officers from multiple agencies provided assistance in sunnyvale following an officerinvolved shooting. Officers provided assistance after an officer hitch involved shooting. Around 4 15 Someone Called Police to report suspicious activity near this motel 6. They said had officers approached the vehicles, two suspects began running. An 18year veteran with the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety shot one suspect who was shot dead on the scene, despite lifesaving measures. During the investigation we found a firearm next to hit body and an i additional firearm in carrying. The captain said one was a loaded highcapacity magazine. Other a handgun. We dont know if he fired at the officer or not. That would be part of our investigation. The officers do not have body cameras, according to the captain. He said the officers involved were not hurt. I was scared. The motel 6 guest, andrea, said she was startled. I heard gunshots and i looked out and saw a lot of police out there. Witnesses reported seeing the second armed suspect running toward a home. Thats why we were taking it very seriously. The search continued from the air and on ground with officers and k9s going door to door. After that extensive search they said they no longer believe the suspect is here in this area, but they are continuing to search for him. Reporting live in sunnyvale, melanie woodrow, abc7 news. It was a busy night for police in the bay area. This is video you will see only on abc7 news. Mountain view officers arrested an assault suspect after an intensive search in the citys downtown area. Police asked residents to stay inside with their doors and windows looked during the search. The arrest was made on castro street late last night near a restaurant. No officers were injured in the search. A man is in the hospital after being shot in berkeley around 6 30 last night. Several people calling 911 after hearing gunshots on russell street near san pablo park. Police spent the evening looking for evidence and trying to find witnesses. Detectives have not said what led to the shooting. They want to hear from anyone who knows about the crime. Water service is scheduled to be restored for nearly half of the city of vallejo at any minute now. About 30,000 homes either lost water or had low water pressure because of a water main break. The 20inch main broke saturday morning near serrano drive. If your water is on its safe to drink. But the reduced pressure is a big concern for the fire department. We really dont have enough water to fight waters ordeal with anything on the west side of town. Again, the water should be back on. We are told it may taste funny, look cloudy, and there may be pieces of sediment in it for about 48 hours, but it is safe to everything doctor. The person wrote a racist message on a garage door. The homeowner said hes the only person of asian descent on his block. He fears it might be a hate crime. He describes his block as peaceful. Police will look at his surveillance footage. A computer problem at the air Traffic Center in virginia caused huge headaches for travelers yesterday. The system is responsible for processing flight data essential to airtraffic controllers. The faa cancelled hundreds of flights, delayed 2,000 with major east coast hubs hit the hardest. Officials assured passengers the problem was not the result of a hack attack. The agency is working to figure out exactly what went wrong. New this morning, fireworks were launched this morning at pearl harbor, marking the 70th anniversary of the end of world war ii in the pacific. The fireworks display was provided by the japanese city which is a partner city of honolulu. Its the hometown of the late japanese admiral who was the architect of the attack on pearl harbor that launched the u. S. Into the war back in 1941. U. S. Planes bombed the city during the last weeks of the war, killing nearly 2,000 people. The war ended when japan surrendered august 15, 1945. A special honor was given to japaneseamerican soldiers responsible for one of the bravest rescues during world war ii. Yesterday we were at the Hornet Museum in almeda where members of the combat team shared their story. That group orchestrated the rescue of another group of soldiers from the germans. Two previous rescues of the socalled lost battalion failed. I dont know how we did it. But somehow we persevered. Its a great story. I think to hear it live from a person who went through it is really a special opportunity. The 442nd became one of the most wellrespected and most decorated fighting units. Do you smell it . It smelled like a campfire and the air was really smoky. We werent sure what was going on. We heard about fires that were far away from here, but it was still causing a lot of smoke by our house in concord. We thought there might have been a fire locally until we went online and noticed it was just winds blowing in from the other areas. Hundreds and thousands of residents across the east bay thought they might be in danger. Emergency officials were swamped by calls from antioch and livermore. We tweeted out that unless you actually saw flames, call 911, otherwise dont call 911. The heavy haze hung over the north bay, the east bay, the city, and along the peninsula. We are getting summertime ozone due to warm temperatures and very low winds, and then we are also seeing some of the smoke from wildfires in Northern California find its way into the bay area. There was a fire just after 5 30 this morning angriesly peak boulevard and east park drive. The fire was put out about two hours ago. Multiple Fire Departments pitched in to help and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Seventeen wildfires continue to burn throughout california. More than 13,000 firefighters are trying to get control. Crews were able to fully contain the fire in lake county on friday. The rocky fire has burned nearly 70,000 acres. And nearby the more than 25,000acre jerusalem fire is 82 contained with full containment expected tomorrow. Cal fire is still urging people to be careful during outdoor activities. Breaking news overnight. 54 people abarred an Indonesian Airline are feared death after witnesses reported seeing a crash into the mountain. The plane lost contact with Ground Control shortly after it was scheduled to land. Heavy rain, strong winds and fog were battering the landing site. En air search has been suspended because of the weather and darkness. They report all the passengers on that plane were indonesian. Developing news out of japan where evacuations are taking place this morning because of the danger of a volcano erupting near a nuclear reactor. The government has raised the alert for the mountain to the second highest level. Nearby residents are being ferried to an evacuation center. The volcano is just 31 miles from a nuclear plant. That plant just restarted its reactor on tuesday under new Safety Standards from the fukushima disaster back in march, 2011. Ing. This is the second spare the air alert this summer and we also have a heat advisory everywhere except the coastal north bay regions where temperatures are 16 to 20 degrees behalf normal. We will have 80s and 90s and triple digits in the high lighted areas. The sea breeze kicks up late today and some relief in store for tomorrow. Its San Francisco, 68 degrees. 72 oakland. And 70 in san jose. 77 morgan hill. Some of the Higher Elevations never cooled off and were in the 70s overnight. This is 63 in Half Moon Bay. On the peninsula you see haze in the atmosphere there. The airport no problems. But certainly a warm bay in store there with more 80s for you. 78 by the delta. 74 in concord. And livermore on the way to 80 degrees. So 24hour temperature change. Cooler here, but everywhere else we are up so its going to be another stifling day out there. Heres the reason why. No wind at all. We take a look at even the delta, 8 miles per hour. Winds are flat and out of the north. The smoke is drifting in from the north. The view from the golden gate brimming, hazy out there still. And we are looking at the marine layer to return more widespread on tuesday. Then a little bit of it tomorrow. So the High Pressure sits to the east of us. The clockwise flow around it shuts off any marine influence and it allows a few high clouds, as welch its strong and its staying with us. It will weaken and slide to the east tomorrow, making way for a trough that will help to cool us off in the days ahead. 100 in los gatos today. 97 stanley clara, 98 san jose.
