The San Leandro Police department is investigating the homicide the incident as a homicide. No one has been arrested. Again, all north bound lanes are closed. Traffic is being diverted off the interstate on to Marina Boulevard around the scene. We will bring you more details as soon as we get them. 5 01, the time. A threemonthold baby is back with his mother after Vallejo Police say two men kidnapped the infant. Officers arrested John Brumfield and Michael Jones yesterday. They snatched the baby from the grandfather at his home. It appears the suspects were headed toward the Greyhound Bus station. Brumfield was in a relationship with the childs mother burks it remains unclear if hes the childs biological father. A man is at San Francisco General Hospital after getting swept up in the waves at ocean beach. A kite surfer tried to rescue him but couldnt hold on to his kite and make the rescue. Two others managed to pull him out of the water and start cpr before the other men got there. He saw the man struggling in what he described as choppy water. In East San Jose police are trying to find the man who shot a man to death in broad day light. It was at the Mobile Home Park around 5 30 yesterday. Neighbors heard several shots and saw the man lying in the street. Witnesses say the shooter left in a car with several people inside. A young man remains in jail this morning after being formally charged with the murder of a hi ward police officer. 21yearold mark estrada made his First Court Appearance yesterday following thursdays killing of Sergeant Scott lunger. We have more. The 21yearold Marcus Estrada was historic as the judge read the charges against him. The courtroom was packed. If you ask teachers neighbors, friends they all say hes too kind. Court documents reveal estrada is the registered owner of the white truck involved in the shooting. He went to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his side and admitted he was shot while in the drivers side of his truck but he would not say by whom. Sergeant lungers partner fired at the truck. His attorney said its speculation that his client is guilty. We dont know the totality of the circumstances in this case or how those bullets occurred inside of his car. Police tell me they are not currently looking for other suspects, but investigators still want to talk with the three people seen getting out of this car at estradas house after the shooting. A groundbreaking was held in hayward yesterday at a site where a stone memorial will be built to remember the victims of 91 1 and First Responders but it took on an even sadder taupe. Heres vic lee what so proudly we hail at the twilights last blooming the memorial is dedicated to the victims of 911 and three Hayward Police officers and a firefighter who died in the line of duty. But the heroes at the groundbreaking today had he havier hearts. When we planned this we didnt know sadly this week we were going to have another name to add to the list. The name of Hayward Police Sergeant Scott lunger, who was killed during a traffic stop this week. His name will be installed on these tenfoot tall. Representing the planes that went down that tragic day. The man behind it michael emerson. This is his seventh memorial project since 911. Eight years ago in union city he built this memorial to the victims of the flight who lost their lives in the field. To this family each one of these memorials is as painful as the first. You have to keep moving but it doesnt make it any easier. Always fresh. Emerson is on a patriotic mission. I want to make sure that people remember not only 911 but also veterans and First Responders. Thats why those here believe its important to include sergeant lungers name on the memorial stones.
