The Kay County Courthouse rises four stories above Newkirk’s Government Square, bolstered on both sides by the Kay County Administration Building and Newkirk City Hall and Fire Station. It is one of the most striking buildings downtown and is considered one of the most beautiful such buildings across the state. The building will hit the century mark in only a few years, and is currently closed to the public for needed repairs, but it is hoped to reopen in only a few months, ready to serve the community for another 100 years.
