JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jimmies battled with Dordt in the first half but were able to pull away in the final 10 minutes to defeat the Defenders 89-68. Sophomores Mason Walters and Marc Kjos had big second halves for Jamestown to secure an opening-round victory. Walters had just five points in the first half, but poured it on in the last 20 minutes and finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Kjos nearly had a double-double, dropping in 16 points and dishing out nine assists. UJ shot 54% as a team and converted on 13 of 24 attempts from long range. Seven Jimmies knocked down a three on the evening, and Devan Praska had seven points and six rebounds off the bench.
