Coun. Jeff Davison switched gears Wednesday and announced he’ll launch a campaign for mayor.
Davison filed his nomination papers to run for re-election in Ward 6 earlier this year. But now, he’s jumping into the mayoral race instead.

He said his plan was to continue in the ward race until “very recently,” but he ultimately decided he wanted to play a bigger role in the city’s coming economic recovery effort. When he announced his initial re-election campaign, he said he hadn’t totally ruled out a run for mayor.
