Is COVID-19 over? No, but after a year, NJ is finally turning a corner

Josie Nieves is a 75-year-old widow who makes ends meet as a crossing guard in Bergenfield. Ask her what a return to normal would look like after the COVID pandemic, and the answer is immediate. 
"I haven't had my grandchildren over to my home in a year," she said last week, fighting back tears. "I don't have a lot, so my family means everything to me. And I want it back."
It is difficult even for public health experts to say when a true sense of normalcy will return to New Jerseyans like Josie.
But on the anniversary of New Jersey's first case, it appears New Jersey is turning the corner on COVID-19 despite a slight uptick in cases from last week.
