You might think it's because we're the number one pork producing state in the U.S. and the top state for pork exports, but nope! Although those things are true (according to the Iowa Pork Producers Association), this study is based solely on Instagram photos. The article reads: "Ginny’s measure bacon enthusiasm by analyzing an impressive (and probably crispy) 64,000 Instagram photos. The photos were country-wide and tagged #food, #breakfast, #lunch and #dinner. The more of those pictures contained bacon, the more bacon-loving the state."
