ROXAND TWP. — An Ionia County Sheriff's deputy is on administrative leave after shooting and killing a man police say stole a vehicle after a pursuit, according to Michigan State Police.
The shooting occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in Roxand Township in Eaton County, on Charlotte Street near West Grand Ledge Highway, according to MSP, which has taken over the investigation.
Police said the deputy began pursuing the man in Ionia County and conducted a traffic stop in Roxand Township, according to MSP.
"At the end of the pursuit, there was some sort of collision and a shooting took place," MSP wrote in a press release on Twitter.
