Innocent man falsely accused of racist verbal attack, Steve Green, working to clear his name

A South Florida man falsely accused by several people on social media of launching a racist tirade at a restaurant owner in Delray Beach is working to protect his reputation. The owner of Ramen Lab Eatery captured video of three men hurling racial slurs at him and threatening him on Thursday night. Louis Grayson, the owner of the restaurant, said he felt like he needed to protect himself and his employees, so he took out his phone and started recording the men. While that incident was happening, Steve Green of Miami Beach was on a plane back to South Florida from Colarado. He then left for Los Angeles on Saturday morning. He had not been to Delray Beach since the beginning of the month and has never been to Ramen Lab Eatery. On Sunday morning, he received more than a dozen hate-filled messages on his email and social media accounts. "I woke up Sunday morning to some hatred and I had no idea what was happening whatsoever,” Green said.He says that the people who messaged him seemed to believe he was one of the men who launched the racist rant at the Delray Beach restaurant. Green is bald, has glasses and has a similar body type to one of the men in the video."He didn’t look like me at all. To me, he was way older than me, at least 10 to 15 years older than me, our voices don’t sound alike whatsoever," Green said. “We don’t look like the same person but we have a similar frame."When I read this and I saw the video and I saw the similar frame that we have I knew I had to jump on this one. I had to respond back to all the tweets and Instagram and TikTok posts.“I just went into crisis mode."As Green was reaching out to everyone who emailed him or posted incorrect information on social media about him, he also reached out to Grayson.Grayson posted this on the restaurant's Facebook page:“I said, ‘I feel for you,’ and (Grayson) said, ‘I feel for you, too,'" Green said."He really helped out."Eventually, Green says most of the social media posts with the false information about Green's involvement in the incident were taken down. However, he says a few tweets with incorrect information about him remain on Twitter."I’m just amazed that people can just go after somebody without knowing anything and then not give any apology or anything, not caring about somebody’s credibility or livelihood of life. I mean this could have been really bad,” Green said.“It’s nice that a lot of people deleted their tweets or changed their captions but there are a lot of people out there who just won’t delete their tweet and they want to keep it out there, that I’m that person and I find that to be mind-blowing."To me, the biggest thing is just helping to clear my name. I would never do that egregious act that these men did and also I was not in Delray Beach (that night).“I hope this doesn’t happen to other people, because maybe some people would have ignored it, being like, ‘This is ridiculous, obviously it’s not me on the video’ and ignored it and that could have really cost somebody so you definitely want to fight to protect your name online."Green says he is worried that someone in the public thinks he is one of the men in the video. He says he hopes to be able to go back to Delray Beach soon, a place where he enjoys spending time."To really attack someone’s character and easily just ruin someone’s life is terrible," Green said.Delray Beach Police Department investigators say the men in the video will not be charged, but what the men said to the restaurant owner was "disgusting."
