PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- Imogene Louise Crawley, née Burgess, passed away peacefully at home in Punta Gorda, Fla., on Sept. 14, 2023. She was 95 years of age. Born in June 1928 in Grainola, Okla., to Isom and Elva Burgess, Imogene spent her youth in rural northern Oklahoma, graduating from Kaw City High School in 1946. On a family trip to Pyote, Texas, Imogene met her lifelong love and partner, Clarence James Crawley, whom she married in September 1947. From Pyote, CJ and Imogene moved their family, ultimately to include four sons, to Houston and Dallas, Texas, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Germantown, Tenn. After retiring and living the RV life for several years, they settled on Lake Catherine near Hot Springs Ark., where they routinely entertained, amused and delighted any, and often all, of their nine grandchildren. In her last years, Imogene lived in Punta Gorda with her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Pat Crawley.
