Actor Charlie Robinson, known for his role as the clerk on Night Court, died Sunday (July 11) of cancer complications at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 75 years old. Deadline, the Houston, Texas native got his start in the 1970s in guest roles on shows like Hill Street Blues and Roots: The Next Generation. In 1983, he was cast as "Newdell" in the sitcom Buffalo Bill. The series was nominated for an Emmy before being canceled in 1984. Later that same year, Robinson would get his career break as "Mac Robinson" on Night Court. He played the role for nine seasons and had an impressive acting run of 12 consecutive TV seasons as a regular on three different shows.
