There’s one less killer roaming the streets of Minnesota this morning. For the first time in that state’s history, a white cop has been convicted of a murder performed while on duty.
Upon the announcement of the verdict, crowds gathered at the Hennepin County Government Centre and George Floyd square – the once nameless intersection in Minneapolis where Floyd took his last, strained breath. Tears flowed among the crowd; chants rose up to honour Floyd’s name and a sign read “The World is Watching”.
