HYANNIS — The Newport Hotel Group, owner of the Hyannis Harbor Hotel, is working with the town of Barnstable and local contractors to repair damage caused by a five-alarm fire at the building on Sunday. The fire caused extensive damage to one wing of the building, but business operations are continuing, Newport Hotel Group said in a statement. Hotel staff are working to accommodate future guests in a separate free-standing building overlooking Hyannis Harbor. The management staff, meanwhile, is evaluating what they will be able to offer as far as services and amenities this season. "We do not expect any reduction in our team this season," the release read. "What has otherwise been a deeply difficult situation has been offset by an outpouring of support and encouragement from our neighbors, guests and friends in the community."
