An elderly Hutchinson man was bound over this week to stand trial on allegations he sexually fondled a young girl.
The 11-year-old victim and a family member who the girl reported the February 2019 incident to both testified during a brief preliminary hearing before District Judge Joe McCarville, who then bound the defendant, Jack Bass, over for trial.
Bass, 78, entered a not guilty plea to a single count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, and McCarville transferred the case to the Division 1 court for trial, court records show.
The case, filed as a Jessica’s Law case because of the victim’s age, carries a potential life sentence.
