Apr 7, 2021 NAPA, Calif. – The University of Washington posted a sixth-place finish at the Silverado Showdown which wrapped up on Wednesday after posting a three-round score of 34-over 898 (290-304-304). The Huskies had two top 20 finishes as freshman Stefanie Deng tied for 17th and senior Rino Sasaki tied for 20th.
"This was definitely not the result we wanted after a promising start," said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "We don't have a lot of time before our next event so we're going to need to regroup quickly and be ready to go this weekend."
Deng's finish was her second-straight top 20 showing after finishing tied for 3rd last month at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club. She finished with a 5-over 221 (67-75-79) to tie for 17th. Her final round was her toughest as she carded a 7-over 79 with just two birdies but throughout the three rounds, Deng led the team with her 33 pars and nine birdies.
