BUDAPEST, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Hungary on Saturday reported a new high of 9,444 COVID-19 cases in a 24-hour span, raising the national total to 507,627.
In the past 24 hours, 163 people have died from the disease, taking the toll to 16,790 in the country, while 349,530 have recovered. Currently, 8,897 patients are being treated in hospitals, including 989 on ventilators, figures from the government's coronavirus information website showed.
As of Saturday, 1,293,414 people have received at least the first shot of a vaccine, while 377,343 had two jabs, according to the website.
"There is a need for national unity in the fight against COVID," Minister of Human Capacities Miklos Kasler said in a statement Saturday, following the publication of the fresh data.
