In that installment, we introduced the mRNA vaccine blueprint that tells your cellâs ribosome factory to build a simple protein--the exact same kind of protein the cells in your body produce trillions of times per day--but this scarecrow protein is shaped like (dum-dum-dum!) the ugly spike on the Rona! Your body normally uses proteins to build muscle and a million other things but your immune system is quite adept at recognizing things that do not belong. Your immune system assumes this odd-shaped protein is a whole virus so it builds an ENTIRE ARMY to rise up against the ugly thing. Itâs a vast overreaction but your immune system takes no chances.
