In January police officers arrested campaigner Nathan Wint after he reportedly 'chained himself' to the gates. At the time police revealed he had been arrested on suspicion of 'aggravated trespass'. The road outside the quarry had to be cordoned off while officers were at the scene speaking to Nathan. His sister, Kim Wint, said: "I think it stinks. I live in Trent Vale so it’s not as bad there but my family are in Silverdale and Knutton. "The smell is affecting everyone, and people worry about their children's health from breathing it in. “It was supposed to be slowing down this year but the smell is as bad as ever."
