It's a word that seems so simple in theory, yet has often left me with complex feelings after an average visit to the nail salon or a stroll through the mall. Until 2015, even America's most trusted online dictionary, Merriam-Webster, defined the term as "having the color of a white person's skin," which left a great number of consumers, myself included, at a complete loss in the past when searching for the perfect skin-toned product.
