Homeless outreach worker on the struggles growing up as a black women in Blackburn


A HOMELESS outreach support worker overcame several problems to land a job where she now helps others.
Tylah Pierce from Blackburn did not have an easy childhood and shocks people with her story of how she came to work at CGL Blackburn despite her struggles in the past.
Mum of one, Miss Pierce, speaking of her experience ahead of International Women's Day on March 8, said: “I grew up in Blackburn in the 90s which was challenging due to poverty and as a mixed-race girl. From a young age life was hard.
“I was a young teen mum, a troubled teen with a substance abuse problem.
