Rajkot: The skyrocketing prices of raw material coupled with the surge in Covid-19 cases have put brakes on the recovery of Rajkot’s imitation jewellery that has been reeling under financial crisis since the beginning of the pandemic. The already stressed industry that employs over 3 lakh workers and has an annual turnover of Rs 3,000 crore, has been hit hard due to spike in the cost of raw materials that have gone up by 60-70% in the last three months. Many of the manufacturing unit owners had to cancel orders from wholesalers as they could hardly afford to deliver goods at old rates.
