'There will be a fatality' - Inglewood's plea for a safe state highway crossing


“Eleven hundred of those are heavy haulage," Pearce said.

“A third of our town lives on that side of the state highway.”

Dairy owner Jing Sun, Karen Bullock, Chester Young, Christine Fabish, Marie Pearce. Pearce says someone will die on Rata St if a safe crossing is not installed.
A Waka Kotahi representative is set to come to the mid-June Inglewood community board meeting, Pearce said.
“I understand they have a design for it.”
But that does not guarantee the crossing will be built, and the town is determined to keep up the pressure.
