Starting Friday, June 25, scorching temperatures arrived and soon shattered weather records, leading to dozens of heat-related deaths in Oregon.
On Sunday, the lowest high temperature recorded in any Oregon county was 91, in eastern Oregon’s Union County.
The coast lucked out on several days, with Red Mound, Ore., near Brookings in Curry County clocking in Monday at 57, the lowest high temperature that day in Oregon. Portland smashed previous records, topping out Monday at 116 degrees at Portland International Airport. That’s the highest temperature Portland has ever recorded.
