This is FRESH AIR. Our film critic Justin Chang recommends the movie "The Woman Who Ran," a 76-minute dramatic comedy from the South Korean filmmaker Hong Sang-soo. It won a directing prize at the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival and is now playing in select theaters nationwide. Here's Justin's review.
JUSTIN CHANG, BYLINE: The 60-year-old South Korean writer-director Hong Sang-soo is one of the most tirelessly productive filmmakers working today. Over the past couple of decades, he's made a remarkable 26 features, sometimes churning out one or even two a year. The consistency and quality of his work has earned him a significant following at film festivals and among art-house audiences who've come to love his wry and melancholy movies - slender, low-budget dramedies that are often focused on the fractious dynamics between women and men.
