HARRISBURG (WSIL)---The Harrisburg Unit 3 School Board's regular meeting was not called specifically for COVID-19, but how the school will proceed with the virus was up for discussion.
Last year, Harrisburg school district had a hybrid in-person and remote schedule, with all in-person students required to wear masks.
Superintendent Mike Gauch told News 3 that he is recommending masks be optional for students in the Fall.
"We are going to recommend that masks be optional at this time. However, we will inform the board that we believe, from information that we are hearing, that it may be mandatory before long. However at this point, we're still going to try to get the Board to agree to make masks optional," said Gauch.
