Tata Motors is developing a new petrol powertrain for its premium SUVs, the Harrier and Safari, according to the company's managing director. Currently, the models come with a 2-litre diesel engine, but Tata Motors wants to cater to the 20% of the market that prefers petrol. The company is working on a 1.5-litre GDI engine, which will require proper development and integration.
