Half of city’s first responders have received first of 2 COVID-19 vaccine shots

Honolulu’s police chief and a number of first responders rolled up their sleeves Tuesday to get vaccinated as part of a push to boost confidence in the shot among the public.
HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Some 58% of Oahu’s first responders, including firefighters, lifeguards and paramedics, have received COVID-19 vaccinations, the city said Thursday.
The vaccination effort for Oahu first responders started last week.
Hiro Toya, city director of Emergency Management, said 2,315 city first responders have gotten their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
