Gun bill backward step Martha M. Lemert With House Bill1369,also known as “permitless carry,” Indiana is going the wrong direction on gun safety. With gun rights come responsibilities: Especially the responsibility to practice safety in the handling and carrying of a gun in public places. After all, guns are designed to be dangerous objects. The engineering function of a gun is to injure and kill living things -- particularly people. Yet the Indiana legislature is intent on removing the minimal permitting requirements that exist in Indiana for carrying a concealed gun in public places. What are those minimal requirements?
