A prison governor who has been awarded an OBE in the Queenâs New Yearâs Honours List says he doesnât feel he deserves the award.
Neil Thomas, 40, was given the award for services to the prison and probation service, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Under Neilâs watch as the governor at Stocken Prison in Stretton, not a single inmate of the more than 1,000 there have tested positive for coronavirus - despite up to a third of the staff testing positive at any one time, including Neil himself earlier in the year.
