If you have a hound like Rosie at home, best leave her there if you want to get a close-up of creatures in the West River Marsh wildlife management area south of Canandaigua Lake. We pulled into the parking area on Parish Road off Route 245 along the Ontario/Yates County border to get a quick look at a family of waterfowl. Whether they were ducks, geese or some other water-happy creature, I couldn’t tell you. Rosie went wild and these good-looking sorts took off into the wetland world safe from the likes of her. (She didn’t stand a chance; besides, it’s bears she wants).
