STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — From table P15 on the patio of new Luce Restaurant, a patron can scope out familiar points along the horizon such as the Outerbridge Crossing and Atlantic Highlands. Here, three stories above the South Shore Commons shopping complex in Charleston, lives one of Staten Island’s newest Italian restaurants. And it’s a luxurious one.
On a recent afternoon surrounded by a beige-toned, plush dining room, owner Maria Buonsante said the place took about two years to open. She discussed the arduous business journey though the pandemic from the 14-month liquor license process to the waiting game on the return of indoor dining.
