Build up around gaza , build up around gaza, International Reaction grows as leaders and diplomats around the world try to stop the conflict from escalating. From escalating. Well, in the last few hours, an Israeli Defence force spokesperson has said some half a Million People have already left northern gaza for the south and repeated that the Israeli Military does not actively target civilians. Prime minister target civilians. Prime minister rishi sunak will address the house of commons later today to set out the uks response to the escalating conflict. And well be speaking to the minister for armed forces , James Heappey, in armed forces, James Heappey, in the next hour. The next hour. Back at home, net migration is unlikely to fall to pre brexit levels even by the end of this decade. Will this be another conservative promise broken or Political Correspondent olivia utley live in westminster with the latest. Olivia yeah. Olivia yeah. Once upon a time we were promised net migration levels of below 100,000. Well thats not going to happen any time soon. Find out why with me. Okay. Okay. Okay. Also this morning, as data obtained by gb news shows a near 200 increase in drink spiking in lancashire alone. Our reporter sophie reaper has been out and about with local police on their new counter spiking operations and well bring you her exclusive report. Her exclusive report. And Jonathan Vautrey will have your latest Weather Forecast. And we should say very cold over the weekend where did that nippy wind come from . Lets that nippy wind come from . Lets go to jonathan. Good morning. Its a week of two halves, starting off relatively fine and settled, but wetter and windier conditions arriving later. Join me later for all the details and a lot of the things we want to talk about throughout the programme. Obviously dominated by the middle east. You can join in any of those discussions by emailing gbviews gbnews. Com. You can also tweet us. And one of the things i want to talk about is that milkman milk floats are making a comeback. Milkman milk floats are making a comeback. Im milkman milk floats are making a comeback. Im here for that. Comeback. Im here for that. Yeah, i love a milk float, but you havent got one. I havent got one, no. Okay. Right. So well talk about that because theres little twists to this. Why you should you this. Why you should why you could its good, whether could whether its good, whether its why basically its bad and why i basically milk makes me want to throw up which is a long you its a long story. But anyway , there you story. But anyway, there you are. Get in touch and talk to. Are. Get in touch and talk to. Us so top story this morning is the British Foreign office has been told has been joined by the us embassy in israel in urging people to move closer to a crossing a Border Crossing called rafah between gaza and egypt. As reports emerged that it could be opened in a matter of hours. Well , overnight the israeli well, overnight the Israeli Military have said half a Million People have already complied with its Evacuation Order and left the northern half of the gaza strip. Conditions for civil aliens in the strip worsen by the hour with water, food, power and medicine in scarce supply. Save the children says there is now no safe place left in gaza. While the chief of the un agency in the region says gaza is running out of life. Well, israeli troops continue their build up around the territory as a full scale invasion is now only a matter of time. Come this morning, an time. Come this morning, an official from the Israeli Defence force says that they are not targeting civilians in gaza. Well, if you were a civilian in gaza, would you trust that assurance . Yes. They say theyre assurance . Yes. They say theyre not actively targeting civilians in gaza. But if youre caught in in gaza. But if youre caught in the crossfire, doesnt seem to count, then, does it . Let us know what you think. Hospitals in gaza say they will only have power for another 24 hours. And nearly half a Million People have from the north have fled south from the north and of strip a full and east of the strip as a full scale invasion could now happen. We believe, any moment. We believe, at any moment. Well, our reporter tom sullivan reports on the crisis inside gaza. Inside gaza. Northern gaza has fallen eerily silent after another night of deadly bombing. Now the night of deadly bombing. Now the only thing falling from the sky are thousands of pamphlets containing a message from israel. Evacuate to the south immediately. We and so they did. Immediately. We and so they did. For many, the threat of more of israels bombs and impending invasion. In response to the terror attack which killed more than 1400in israel, outweighs orders from hamas to stay put. Orders from hamas to stay put. Hundreds of thousands fled south on whatever could carry them. Cars if there was fuel, horse and cart , if one could be found. And cart, if one could be found. But many turned to their own feet. Feet. The whole energy. The whole energy. The whole energy. But not everyone is leaving. But not everyone is leaving. This doctor and his staff at this Childrens Hospital say they simply cant evacuate. They simply cant evacuate. Can. Can. If you want to kill us, kill us while we continue working here, we will not leave. We need here, we will not leave. We need days and weeks to secure another place. Unfortunately there are no empty nurseries in these difficult conditions. The situation is really dangerous. I tell you that transferring these children from this place means handing them a death sentence. They will die. And this equipment only operates of electricity and oxygen in nearby Al Shifa Hospital continues to receive a flow of bodies pulled from the rubble of bombed neighbourhoods. Neighbourhoods. This doctors here say the hospital is ovennhelmed with civilians, the injured and the orphaned. Where do these orphaned. Where do these children go now . Foreign children go now . Foreign nationals have been told to head to gazas border with egypt. But as they arrive there , there was as they arrive there, there was no escape here. For those with european and american passports can only wait for the gates to be opened. Among them, mariam be opened. Among them, mariam and her mother, who travelled from their home in the uk to gaza to visit family every time ijust gaza to visit family every time i just have to have the thought of me dying in a bomb in gaza like its not a good thing. Like its not a good thing. Like every place i go , i go like every place i go, i go run away and i just find bombs and i find dead people and like, maybe one day ill end up like them. But its a really scary thing for me. Thing for me. Israel has ovennhelming support by the eu. The uk and the United States over its right to defend itself and eliminate hamas. A terror group that has inflicted unimaginable suffering and bloodshed on the country. And bloodshed on the country. But such messages of support have increasingly come with a warning to retaliate within International Law and to protect innocent Palestinian Civilians. Innocent Palestinian Civilians. This afternoon , the prime this afternoon, the Prime Minister is expected to reiterate that britains total condemnation of hamas attacks and set out the governments approach to the developing crisis. This is in the house of commons this afternoon. Commons this afternoon. Well, at least 17 british citizens are missing or confirmed dead following hamas attacks last weekend. And James Cleverly is due to use an International Summit in albania to further rally support for israel. Thats according to the Foreign Office, the first minister of scotland. Minister of scotland. Theyre having their national conference, humza yousaf and his mother in law, who is trapped in gaza, released these videos, got an update this morning from her mother in law who tells me theyre alive , which is what we theyre alive, which is what we were hoping to hear. Beyond that, im afraid the situation is dire. They they had a terrible night. Rockets were falling all around them. The falling all around them. The house was shaking. The children were screaming most of the night. They have, according to my mother in law , around one day my mother in law, around one day of supplies left. And theyre terrified to try to go out to any market, given theyre all being told to stay indoors. Being told to stay indoors. This will be my last video. This will be my last video. So everybody from gaza is moving towards where we are. 1 Million People, no food , no water. And people, no food, no water. And still the bombing them as they leave , were going to put them. Leave, were going to put them. But my thought is all these people in the hospital cannot be evacuated. Wheres humanity . Evacuated. Wheres humanity . Wheres peoples hearts in the world to let this happen . And in world to let this happen . And in this day and age and may god help. Us its hard to watch, help. Us its hard to watch, isnt it . Especially at this time. And lets talk a little bit more with james marlow, Foreign Affairs analyst. I mean, it continues. I dont know what day were on nine now, day ten, were on day nine now, day ten, day ten. It takes the wind out of my lungs all of these stories and accounts and just bring us right up to date because of right up to date because lots of developments happening developments have been happening overnight developments have been happening overnigi firstly developments have been happening overnigifirstly it does not seem yes. Firstly it does not seem that there was any rockets fired overnight towards israel, which is the first time in nine nights since on my phone. And thats the reason why ive just brought it in. Ive got two devices on there where as soon as rockets are fired from gaza into israel or even from lebanon into israel, the air raid sirens go off, go off. Now dont worry, its not going to happen over here because theyve got it on silent. But it means that i can see it on the screen. So we know exactly where the rockets are. Sirens off in the tel sirens are going off in the tel aviv or around the gaza aviv area or around the gaza area. A lot of people have been evacuated now the gaza evacuated now from the gaza periphery area, which is stay right ghost towns the right there. Ghost towns at the moment. Why would those james, why would those rockets be going have rockets not be going off . Have they ammunition . Are they run out of ammunition . Are they run out of ammunition . Are they what they conciliatory . And what theyre to here and is theyre trying to do here and is this tactical . How would you see this, this tactical . Israel has definitely yeah, israel has definitely hit them very, very hard. So the hit them very, very hard. So the hamas infrastructure was based out in gaza city, which is the reason why israel requested were not requested. But specifically said leave the area to the civilians, leave the area. And its very interesting youve got is Ismail Haniyeh , who is the is Ismail Haniyeh, who is the Supreme Leader of hamas, and he says to the palestinian earns living in gaza, do not leave your homes. Do not listen to israel. And where is he . Hes sitting in the comfort of doha, which is in qatar. Yeah and hes the one whos telling them, dont leave your homes, which is a tactic from a typical tactic from palestinian now with Palestinian Hamas. Now with regard to the rockets , theyve regard to the rockets, theyve definitely still got many , many definitely still got many, many and probably long range rockets , and probably long range rockets, but theyre waiting for israel to choose that moment to come in. And theres two reasons why israel have not yet gone into the gaza strip. Number one is because netanyahu has spoken to the president , joe biden, five times. And has a huge amount of the americans have a huge amount of sympathy of whats taking place. I mean, if i just put this on a scale of the americans being hit on 9 11 and pearl harbour, if you put those dead together , either it doesnt come together, either it doesnt come anywhere close to what took place just over a week ago in israel in terms of population numbers. This was horrific. And numbers. This was horrific. And just to remind myself how we got here, i looked at some video again very late last night, about 1130 midnight, exactly. Exactly. Some some of the video that i cant even talk about here this morning because its just so graphic and yet here we are, you know, as you say, day ten, the United Nations desperate for a ceasefire. They want israel to lift the blockade of the strip. They call these orders horrific these Evacuation Orders horrific and impossible for civilians. President biden , though, President Biden, though, overnight saying, you know, we still support militarily israel in what theyre doing, but really underlining that there needs to be diplomacy in all of this. Theres only going to be a resolution, diplomatic, not militarily, surely . No i dont agree. I dont agree. Agree. I dont agree. And the reason i dont agree. And the reason why i dont agree is because hamas won an election in 2005in gaza. I think its important to remember the reason why they won an election. Of course, you had huge amount of islamist supporting the radical faction of hamas , but at the time, fatah of hamas, but at the time, fatah were in charge and fatah led by Yasser Arafat at the time. And Yasser Arafat at the time. And then obviously Mahmoud Abbas , then obviously Mahmoud Abbas, they were pocketing hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars coming from the United States, the eu and donors all over the world. Everyone knows that they were pocketing i speak to friends or people that i know very well in jerusalem who are obviously arabs, big fans of Yasser Arafat. And i ask one particular person who used to be the manager of our building in jerusalem, and i said to him, but you know, hundreds of millions were put in his pocket. He said, yeah, know, at he said, yeah, i know, but at least on the map. Least he put us on the map. I said, well, what happened to all that money . He said, i dont know. It got buried with him. That was one of reasons why that was one of the reasons why diplomacy doesnt mean corruption, diplomacy doesnt mean cor|no, on, diplomacy doesnt mean cor|no, no, no. There has to be no, no, no. There has to be high level to resolve high level diplomacy to resolve this on the ground. No, but the reason i mention thatis no, but the reason i mention that is because that people that is because that the people in gaza, in the in in in gaza, in the palestinians in gaza voted for hamas as an alternative in 2006. In two thousand and seven, they violently took over all the Palestinian Authority buildings. There was a shootout. There was a huge of palestinians a huge amount of palestinians killed on both sides, which we dont see those demonstrations when it happens between them. When it happens between them. And often. And and that happens often. And then since time, youve had five since that time, youve had five or think its six wars between or i think its six wars between Palestinian Hamas and israel. And this cannot continue every six months where youve got rockets being launched from gaza. So this is an opportunity for palestinians to have a hope for palestinians to have a hope for a future, not everyone, of course, is supporting hamas. If course, is supporting hamas. If theres an opportunity to rid theres an opportunity to rid the gaza strip of the islamists. The gaza strip of the islamists. And its not just hamas, but and its notjust hamas, but its many other groups and the palestinians can come back and be by decent leadership be led by by decent leadership thatis be led by by decent leadership that is looking to build up gaza and turn it in because it has so much potential , then thats the much potential, then thats the future. If we go back to where we were before , this is going to we were before, this is going to flare up again in six months time, a years time. You were talking, james, about people you know, and our next guest is someone you know as well, you know, off and shes jessica. We speak to you jessica. Jessica we speak to you today.
