BALLSTON SPA - A former Galway man who pleaded guilty to letting his mother die while she was in his care was sentenced to five years of probation on Thursday in Saratoga County Court.
Richard Carr III, 29, pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, a plea deal that spared him a jury trial for manslaughter.
Carr was charged after his ailing mother was brought to Saratoga Hospital and treated for infected open wounds, sepsis, hypothermia and bed sores. He was accused of failing to provide essential care to his mother, Muriel Carr, who died on Jan. 29, 2019 at 64.
