Then, firefighters were called back to the hospital Sunday morning for small fires on on the fourth and fifth floors. Hospital staff members found two more fires, for a total of five fires, police said.Police said detectives noticed all of the fires were set in the same manner and were done intentionally. Through a series of interviews, evidence collection and investigative techniques, police said they determined an employee was responsible for setting all of the fires.Police said investigators charged Emani Doretha Coclough, 23, of Essex, with five counts of second-degree malicious burning. She is a current employee of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and was working in the hospital at the time of the fires, police said."We have learned that one of our own associates has been charged with causing the series of fires on our inpatient units over the weekend. We do not wish to speculate on what motivated this one individual, preferring instead to focus on the immediate actions taken by dozens of associates to ensure patient safety during these events," MedStar's statement read. There were no initial reports of injuries on either day, officials said.Hospital operations continued uninterrupted, officials said."Through extraordinary efforts and teamwork, MedStar Franklin Square associates maintained our usual high level of care for patients as they were temporarily moved to other locations in the hospital; kept the emergency department and operating rooms open and streamlined the clean-up. All hospital operations are currently stable," MedStar's statement read.
