And the landfall as you said could happen in the next hour. 8 00 give or take a few minutes and it could come over right here or just to the south. But the impacts are going to be huge all over as Whipping Winds and Rain Rain sideways continue the ebb and flow. On the Coast Line 10 to 15 feet of Storm Surge is expected in some areas and these are areas that were already hit less than two weeks ago by Hurricane Helene with 5 feet of Storm Surge ripping up complete neighborhoods and businesses unfortunately. Piles of debris are sitting on the side of many of those Barrier Islands. They couldnt get them out because of the mandatory evacuations that in play. Past two days the mayor of tampa saying if you dont leave the Coast Line, you will die. An extreme amount of National Guard has been ordered over 6,000 members by florida governor Ron Desantis and there are thousands of Utility Workers all the way from canada and the mainland u. S. Awaiting to help in the aftermath of this system not just the Coast Line. 80 to 100 miles per hour. The other side of this peninsula on the atlantic they are already seeing impacts and tornadoes. Governor Ron Desantis<\/a>, this storm could make landfall in less than an hour now were told. Were going to bring all the breaking news coming up. Laura the northern Eye Wall<\/a> of Hurricane Milton<\/a> is moving on shore. It will make landfall in the next Half Hour<\/a> or so. A deadly Storm Surge<\/a> and its Wind Field<\/a> is expanding rapidly. There has been more than 100 Tornado Warning<\/a>s throughout the day and nearly 200,000 already without power. Now, were awaiting an update from florida governor Ron Desantis<\/a> and is he walking out right now. Sarasota county as a category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 mileperhour. Its moving toward the northeast at 17 mileperhour and it will continue to move across central florida throughout the night. And into the early morning hours. We have seen a weakening of the storm over the last 24 hours. We also saw it sped up, which means its hitting the Gulf Coast<\/a> prior to High Tide<\/a> which we hope Will Help<\/a> mitigate some of the Storm Surge<\/a>. There will be there is you g to continue to be Storm Surge<\/a> and eventually on the East Coast<\/a> of florida. We are going to see significant amount of rainfall on the northern part of the storm. There has already been 116 Tornado Warning<\/a>s with 19 confirmed touchdowns throughout the state. Nine Flash Flood<\/a> warnings and four additional flood watches with many, many more to come. Numerous counties have reported tornado damage. Peak Storm Surge<\/a> is predicted to be between 5 and 13 feet depending on where you are on the Gulf Coast<\/a> of florida. As of right now, the peak Storm Surge<\/a> looks to be between the charlotte, Lee County Line<\/a> up until Anna Maria Island<\/a> and manatee county. Prior to landfall, the state completed nearly 2,000 missions, generators were sent to shelters, we have massive amounts of Fuel Reserves<\/a> that are staged and ready to go millions of gallons of gas. When the ports reopen, florida Highway Patrol<\/a> will be standing by to escort Fuel Trucks<\/a> two Service Stations<\/a> so that people will have access to fuel as they return to their homes the Florida Department<\/a> of transportation is staged and ready to go. As soon as the Storm Passes<\/a> they have 156 bridge inspectors. 200 Cut And Toss<\/a> personnel and generators and heavy equipment and trucks. We have massive amounts of Search And Rescue<\/a> equipment and personnel standing by. And we hope that there is not a big need for that but we are prepared for that and thats not just our state and local, its also our oNational Guard<\/a>, our State Guard<\/a> we have about 9,000 National Guard<\/a> personnel between florida and other states. We also have florida Highway Patrol<\/a> Fish And Wildlife<\/a> department of law enforcement. Of course our florida State Guard<\/a>. Theres a lot of questions about prestaging linemen, which is our practice here in florida. Given that you have a lot of linemen working for Hurricane Helene<\/a> and places like georgia and North Carolina<\/a>. Im happy to report that we have over 50,000 linemen that are in the state of florida, and as soon as its safe to do so they will commence with power restoration. We are already seeing Power Outages<\/a>. You are going to see a lot more Power Outages<\/a> over the course of tonight and into tomorrow morning. Now, at this point its too dangerous to evacuate safely, so you have to shelter in place. And just hunker down. Category 3 storm for most places in florida, particularly newer construction likely the building is going to be able to withstand it. But if you start to get in a situation where trees are snapping, power is popping, you do have to treat it like a tornado. And then if you are in a Tornado Warning<\/a>, thats a Duck And Cover<\/a> in a place thats safe in your structure. Those can be very, very dangerous even if you are inside in cover. Stay inside and stay off the roads. Floodwaters and rushing Storm Surge<\/a> are very dangerous and i would say thats even more so in spite of everything the state did Help Local Communities Hit<\/a> by helene they proved a lot of debris and they did remove a lot of debris over the last 72 hours. You have old debris and new debris in some of those places. There is going to be hazards in the Storm Surge<\/a> and in the flood waters. Stay put until the storm is passed. If you are in sarasota, manatee, some of those areas where the eye of the storm is going. It may be where things calm down for a minute. Just understand that means you are in the eye. Its going to be go back and get really nasty very soon. Dont go outdoors until it is confirmed safe. Can you listen to your local Emergency Management<\/a> officials about that one. Power outages are going to happen as i mentioned. Please, if you are using a generator, make sure you are using it safely. Do not run the generator inside your home that can be fatal. Make sure its outside the home at a safe distance from windows and doorways. If you see dangerous conditions, please report those to your local authorities, so that they can help protect people and mitigate it. So the storm is here, its time for everybody to hunker down. I know we have got massive amounts of resources that have been prepared for this storm. People are tired because of having to deal with Hurricane Helene<\/a> and, yet, all i have seen is people just dig deep inside and say were not going to be denied. Were going to get the job done. Mike, . Hello laura. Were in the thick of it now, the Wall Impacting<\/a> here at the beach. We have a Wind Gust<\/a> at 90 and just recently 76, that is Hurricane Force<\/a> at the nearby airport. The also had about 9 inches of rain so it is really raining hard. The good News Tonight<\/a> though for some of us is that the track of milton was moving northeast and now it is jogging and coming right in but it is coming south of Tampa Bay<\/a>. What does that mean for us here in these beaches . A lower Storm Surge<\/a>, no way we will hit eight to 12 feet because right now the winds are still blowing offshore so the water has not come up. Eventually once the centre clears the area, we get winds from the South And Southwest<\/a> and that will bring in some surge. This is also on the lower Surge Numbers<\/a> and Tampa Bay<\/a> which are also forecast at 812 feet. The water is coming up south of here and down towards the County Beaches<\/a> and Fort Myers<\/a> and naples. It comes on shore, we get landfall and then we have to worry again about natos. We have had some destructive tornadoes in the eastern part of the state and there is a line to east and they will extend the watch overnight for those areas and that includes over towards Daytona Beach<\/a> overnight. We will have more wind and Power Outages<\/a> and more tornadoes. So far here, power just went out but weve got a power around us with all the Power Outages<\/a>, we checked in just over 10 . So not too bad so far we still have another three or four hours with this wind to deal with and a lot of rainfall. Some of these totals will be easily 1215 inches and that will bring in some Flash Flood<\/a>ing. So its a long way to go but a bit of a positive Night Tonight<\/a> on that track which is a more positive one for Tampa Bay<\/a>. But not as good for an Area South<\/a> of tampa and down the Coast And Southwest<\/a> florida. Laura might, please be careful out there. We see the debris in the background, it is so dangerous. Yet we already have more than 200,000 people without power, Sewage Stations<\/a> have been closed , schools have been closed , Gas Stations<\/a> the ones that are most convenient to communities are obviously closed and are out of gasoline.
