Stores are closed. A lot of velocity, it will bring a lot of hazards, a lot of damage. They conditions are getting worse by the minute. This is already happening. Here it is, it is on the ground. We need to prepare for catastrophic impacts. Neil get ready because it is almost on, Tampa And Fort myers, as florida braces for impact. Hurricane milton becoming category three storm ours away from making landfall. The outer bands are already hitting, dropping from airports and military bases, schools and colleges and Theme Parks are closed as this Monster Moves in. Millions in its path or heading out, they got the warnings. Welcome everybody, im neil cavuto. Category three storm now still dangerous, twice the size of what it was yesterday at this time. Go to Steve Harrigan in tampa with more. Reporter hello neil, it is picking up here right now. To my right, wonder if it will go flying i cannot imagine anybody getting into their car at this point with this wind and rain. We just thought two cars totaled , people still occasionally aimed their vehicles in these conditions for the real problems here is this is the second storm in the area. There is so much debris along streets, hundreds of Cubic Yards of Debris And Wind this Storm Hits a lot of that debris could be lost in the air like missiles or by the Storm Surge as well. When we talk to people here whether they are staying or going you get a sense of the stress people are under and the fears they have about what is ahead, or whether they are on the road. Here is what one man had to say. Im worried for my house right on the waters, the Storm Surge will be pretty bad. Reporter still have electric Power Hermpa but 70,00y without it, weeks ago, 2. 2 people 2. 2 Million people lost power at, likely to exceed that. Neil thank You Big Adam has been watching this way before the Monster Storm it was, eat Monsters Storm he saw by the way. Adam help us with its path now as you see it. We are getting on those final hours before we make landfall, at this point, folks are feeling it across estate of eric this is the largest dormant leading into this show, it is being falls from the West Coast all the way to the East Coast in almost unbelievably Tornado Outbreak here today. Every one of these little boxes as a tornado won a storm, last i countered there were six of them but they have been popping up consistently all day long, a tornado spinning. Tornadoes do happen whenever you see hurricanes like this but this is the most robust outbreak i have ever seen. The Tornado Watch still in place as they are from Orlando All The Way to the south, we will continue to see these Pop Up and some of these bands and those can be dangerous storms. As far as the storm It Paths going here forward, we are now basically just sitting off the coast there of sarasota and that is ultimately where it will be landing. That is not necessarily where the landfall will be, you can see this line here, the storm will be dragging across estate basically south of interstate, the heaviest Rain And Wind on the North Side so it does mean places like orlando to the north will see a ton of rain, was a ton of wind it with this system. This is the size of the storm, tropical Storm Wind it got everything into the orange is harking gastric getting closer and closer by the hour and this evening, some of the most recent guests, 50 miles an hour, consistently into the 20 authorities for this it continues to spread out and impact more folks across estate. Here is how this moves across the country, there is the orange, that is a hurricane gust, the red is your hurricane force wind. Those will be there by this evening, 10 or 11 00 p. M. And work their way across the state by that whole huge area will be dealing with intense wind. The question that remains is it when we will get that Landfall Guy that is when we will see the Storm Surge at its worst. The forecast for now still 12 feet across portions of Tampa Bay on the high end, a little further south, sarasota, as high as 13 feet, taking this further south, Fort Myers, you can see Storm Surge of 12 or 13 feet, that would be devastating. That will take out a ton of these homes and the wind continues to be stronger. They stay strong fairly deep in to the state, sarasota, tampa, venice, driving halfway through the state still expecting wind at a low end of 110 miles per hour. They could be stronger, anything in the right at, 75110 miles per hour, do not be surprised if you see that on the what East Coast. Obvious he without much wind we expected Power Outages to be devastating across that entire area. It is getting very clothes but we still have quite a bit of time and we will see how it plays out. Neil and was hearing reports earlier, that could be good news whatever happens it moves quickly but it is big as you said. And then it is out to the atlantic, its not like helene where it takes a curb up north. Know, Think Elite stays a hurricane across the entire state of which is tough but once it gets out of there we are shooting out to see. Neil thank you very much. Going into the center of the state, orlando, you can understand why this neighborhood is closed, seaworld, universal, all shutting down operations. Believe Disney World, in its 55 Year History in the state of florida, only 12 times it has shutdown whether it is for a limited time or not. You will get the read it right now, what many consider to be potentially Ground ZeroDana Florida KaiserPolice Chief kind enough to join us. Really great to have you, how are things looking there . They are not looking good. Am actually in the Police Department as i am speaking to you, there are two of them of us left, the are shutting the door and walking away. We have spent the last three days evacuating our building, removing 45,000 pieces of evidence, everything important to us in this building, we are leaving it behind and getting to save ground. Neil how many cheap heated Evacuation Warnings . Chief you never know until the morning and at this juncture we will find out and it will be devastating, we will not find people wondering, we will find bodies. It is truly that about. We have done our best to talk people into leaving but if they have chosen to stay behind they are dumb, a full loose decision that will cost them with their lives. Neil and risk that your men and womens lives trying to rescue them. Let me ask you about the reports for people that day to evacuate that ran into problems, a traffic, depending on the area, were Gas Stations were simply running out of fuel, how bad was that, is that You Muck. A turned out for a little bit but i will say we are on the heels of Hurricane Helene inwardly smac is hard in this regions, thousands of homes, my home, 3 feet of water. Considered this storm will bring double that, double that that is my height, 6 feet. Think a lot more people heated that warning because of what she did to as just a week ago, we are hoping and praying at this point that everybodys listening and they got that we are still out there patrolling, we are over there on the streets kind we are available if anybody needs us but in the next two hours it will be no longer safe and we will have to retreat to a safe place for emergency. Neil it wasnt too long ago looking at the cameras showing the efforts, the clean up after helene that is a lot of debris. Im told 1 Million pounds of it. That was a potential problem, you have a lot of it, are you able to get a hold of it . A leader not get all of it but always City Staff and workers and administration, that became the most important job over the last week. Everybody dropped everything to try to get that debris up and thank goodness because that will help us better than some other places. It is not perfect but its the best we could do. Neil another question i have, where our people evacuating You Muck where did they go . Some of these shelters, points in land . Everywhere. Our shoulders are not a full, there is room for more people shelters we have thousands of folks in our shelters, we have opened almost every school in the county per heading north on 75, this area seems to have been at the favorite for folks. On hearing from people that traveled to georgia, North Carolina. They learned a hard lesson and they are getting out of town. Neil be safe yourself chief and your coworkers there, you have done all that you could do. Hopefully everybody will be okay we waged and pray i will tell you that. Daylight comes and our first mission will be to get out there and see what we find. Neil thank you very much. Florida Police Chief, Hopefully Everything he does go well they. It is now category three storm but again it is of a big storm. The u. S. Military doing its best to help those in need, of course we have seen this in North Carolina. We saw we have the Major General patrick joining us righa after thisn. Andoned chicken coop. Where our founder discovered a retired teacher living. No home. No health care. So she said no to this Injustice And Yes to transforming lives. Its this drive, this compassion that inspired aarp. Today, we empower people to choose how they live as they age. As a wise friend and fierce defender, we advocate for better health, financial security, and stronger communities. Aarp. Join us in making a difference. Neil taking you now to orlando, florida, a city that entertains families, the world, all the Entertainment Places and big places like Disney And Ac world and universal, they are all shut down all at the same time. You do not see that very often, all because of this storm coming out of them with 100 mileperhour wind. We talk about some of the dangers, it has prompted over 4000 u. S. Of flight cancelations, between Today And Tomorrow likely many more, also redirected flights in and out of the sunshine state. All major airports have a substantial delay if not outright cancelations. This Wheel System works in our nations transportation system, what happens there reverberates everywhere. As long as everybody is safe. Also what is going on in clearwater beach, florida. Remember this is not way d west but all over the old Tampa Bay area from tampa, this is also one of the areas they are worried that could get hit hard. Again, much of the activity, in the landfall that you hear about into this category three storm it could come a little Bit South of that. How that complicates things, still a massive storm. The more it slows down to the bigger it spreads out. But it is moving at a pretty good pace here, that has some holding whatever damage it does will be quick. Major general Patrick Ryder, with as to talk about the role the militaries playing into this. Pretty much like they did in North Carolina and much to the Southern States including florida back with helene and now was milton, they are there to rescue. General great to have you, thank you. Thank you, good to be here. Neil how are things looking from your vantage point, where our troops going right now and what are they doing . As you highlight, we have been working very closely with fema, federal, local authorities to respond bows to Hurricane Helene and be ready for hurricane milton. We have been having very frequent conversations with federal state, local agencies to discuss what is needed most, we have a prestage significant amount of capability, the national guard importantly has activated over 6000 National Guardsmen in florida with an additional 3000 ready to provide support from other states. Have the u. S. Army corps of engineers prestaged Emergency Power capabilities as well as activeduty forces to support as necessary, whether that is route clearance, search and rescue, or helping deliver important capabilities, commodities like food and water. Neil where do you position your men and women than in general . Obviously this storm is now moving slightly south of where we originally thought, and that could change even within the hours of this day. How do you arrange that . A lot of that is looking at the Storm Models and where it is tracking to. Places like georgia are places in florida that are outside of the most dangerous areas of the past, but of course we can bring in it capabilities from across the country as necessary. But right now u. S. Northern command is looking very closely at all of that, looking closely at the state of florida with fema to make sure again to your points, we are prepositioning things, we are staged to be ready to respond as soon as we are needed to. Neil how many men and women are you talking about . No, it is a costly changing target but will it grow . When you look at the combined efforts in terms of the support we are providing for Hurricane Helene, the support we are prepared to provide for hurricane milton, you are looking at of words of over 10,000 National Guardsmen, you have the 1500 activeduty troops currently in North Carolina assisting with efforts they are pleasantly Army Corps of engineers, several hundred Army Corps of engineers folks ready to go. All hands on Deck Effort to. They will lean forward, we will be ready to help our fellow americans in time of need. Neil this has become very much a military issue. I wonder going forward if our view of hurricanes, lease to talk about their category, three, four or a five, by the storms i dont have any particular noteworthy power, thinking of sandy of course aint New Jersey more than a decade ago, office He Katrina by the time It Hit and left florida as a category one storm by the real danger was the flooding and the surge in all of this. We now kind of have to change how we respond to this, and the military has a very special role in responding to these two storms, has that changed . Its an interesting question. I would say importantly, the military is part of the whole of government efforts, in this particular case, you have fema in the lead from the federal standpoint and that is important, what you do not want to do is be in a Disaster Or Crisis situation where you are suddenly rushing and it capabilities that are not synchronized with the largest whole effort. Then what you do is you create new problems and things can become much more chaotic in a situation and you do not need chaos. That is a very important aspect. To your question, the u. S. Military obviously, one of the things we do well is crisis response, from my own experiences living in florida, when hurricanes come in near military installations and things like that, there is a role for the military to play. We will be a part of a whole of government to your point, we will be bringing in capabilities and we will move forward it to help our fellow americans in our time of need. Neil appreciate you taking the time, thank you very much. Major general Patrick Ryder of the pentagon press secretary, bennett is eat follow these last 48 hours. We should let you know as well we are getting some confirmation of those without power, 70,000 in florida likely to grow. I would also like to show you at this time, tampa, florida, some of the images coming in especially our next Guests Home was damaged during helene. She has evacuated but she is worried about what happens now,i after thisru. In 99 of people over 50. Its lying dormant, waiting. And could reactivate.
