I can tell you that the location, it took place is a very populated, popular area next to cafes and restaurants. Theres videos circulated online that we will not show here on television that appear to show many bodies next to a Light Rail Station. This is a station that was actually newlybuilt, in an area where many young people in Tel Aviv like to hang out, close to the beach. An indication that the Security Situation right now across israel continues to deteriorate as the country is not only bracing for the possible ballistic Missile Attack from iran, earlier today people heading to shelters after a Rocket Attack coming from lebanon. The i ran backed Group Hezbollah there. Now this developing news out of jaffah just south of Tel Aviv with a Shooting Attack with ten victims being treated on the scene. Just a horrific scene just south of Tel Aviv, israels second largest city. Kayleigh authorities were able to say quickly this was a terror incidence. I imagine part might have to do timing. They were anticipating an attack from iran that we just covered that. And also the location. I mean, this is jaffah. This you mentioned just minutes from your apartment. A lot of young people here. Theres a store that these two gunmen are walking out of. They appear to be caught on security camera. In front of them, theres someone laying in front of a trash can not moving. This is a very active area. This is a new Light Rail that was just recently completed. It has stopped throughout Tel Aviv. You can go from the heart of Tel Aviv to jaffah. Its a place where theres many young people with cafes and restaurantses. Its not close to any of the security installations. Its on the other end of the city. Its not near any high tech buildings. A very quiet area where people will go to relax on the weekend or spend an evening. So to have an attack unfold at this location, the attackers likely knew this was a soft target. I can also tell you one other detail about this part of the city. Its actually very close to a Police Station just down the road. So the initial video that were seeing shows some police on mopeds responding to the scene. An indication even if they get there quickly, they wont be there at that very moment. As a result, more images coming in confirming there were two gunmen conducting this attack. Harris at least two. What were seeing are the two that people are describing on the ground inside jaffah, which technically is so close its Tel Aviv. And theres one. Kayleigh and i pulled it up on different devices at different times showing two men again, it could be more than two. We dont know. They are very close to the subject that they are firing on. Right now Rocket Alerts are sounding on the eastern side of israel and one of the alerts is next to the dead sea hotels. We dont know where this attack is coming from. In previous iranian attacks, sirens were sounding in those locations. I want to be very careful. We dont know if this is the attack from iran. The fact that sirens are sounding in this area indicates that there are also near demona, close to the nuclear facility in the desert. In the past these areas have been targeted by the iranians when they launched that attack in april. We dont know if this is the attack from iran. In a matter of two or three minutes i can answer that. Just gives you a sense how quickly things are developing on the ground. We know more troops were moved monday. What happened to them . Let me just im going to answer a different question here. I want to talk about what you just saw on your screen there. Two things are happening here. First, im going to talk about what is happening in jaffa in the northern part of the country. We can hear israeli Fighter Jets overhead. You saw the Camera Point up to the sky there. If israel is intercepting ballistic missiles that are fired from iran, they will not be using the Iron Dome. The Iron Dome is reserved for smaller range Rocket Fire. They will use David Sling or more likely the arrow 3 missile Defense System. The arrow 3 was used back in april. We were standing in Tel Aviv and we watched the Missile Defense take place in real time. Some of the missiles were intercepted outside of israeli territory. Others made it to israeli airspace and were intercepted by israels missile Defense System, the Arrow System. The system was developed by a man named danny gold. Danny gold is the mastermind behind the israeli defense arsenal. He thought through how to intercept this fire coming from other countries. The israelis have been preparing for the possibility of what were watching unfold today in multifront attack at the same time. Over the past hour, 1 1 2 hours, the israelis have seen Rocket Fire coming from lebanon and now Missile Fire coming from iran. I want to give you a sense of what this is like compared to the attack in april. Because this is very important in terms of what the possible israeli response may be and what the future of the region looks like. In april, there was more headsup for the israelis to prepare and americans to prepare. U. S. Central Command Record add response. They shot down most of the missiles outside the airspace. Some landed in open areas. There was one person wounded. We dont have any initial reports of injuries. Its too early. This is a story still unfolding as we speak. That was in april. This is very different. We should talk about ballistic missiles. The iranians, as we know, because they have been supplying missiles to russia have extensive missile capabilities. Ballistic missiles when they co from iran can arrive here in about 12 minutes. Unlike in april when drones were launched ahead of time to give not only the Israelis But Coalition force as headsup that there possibly would be a ballistic Missile Attack and cruise Missile Attack to follow, this time the attack happened very quickly and it targeted nearly the entirety of this country. The iranians will not be able to say that they were only targeting Military Installations or bases or intelligence headquarters. This was a Missile Attack that targeted the entirety of israel. What is a duplicate what is the Backup System . That arrow 3 Defense System, John Roberts, really is there to handle the higher Altitude Type of incoming. What type of redundancy do they have for the Iron Dome . They have David Sling and The System you mentioned. They have the Iron Dome. They all work in concert with each other and seem to work very effectively. We have a number of naval assets in the Eastern Mediterranean and the persian gulf. I was at a military charity dinner. Seated with me is the joint chairman of the chiefs of staff. They didnt seem preoccupied with anything. So this is clearly just popped up in the last 18 hours or so. The capabilities of the United States combined with israel, with our allies in the Middle East as happened in april when iran last attacked israel, that barely any of the missiles or drones made contact with the ground. Those that did were mostly in an area where there wasnt a lot of damage. We do see a flash of what looked like fire on the ground. These systems are designed that if the trajectory looks likes its going to hit, it will allow it to go in open ground. You dont want to waste your ammunition on projectiles that look like they wont hit a populated area. Some fall in the open ground, some fall in to the sea. Obviously the ones that hit downtown Tel Aviv, jaffa, the western part of jerusalem or other cities like that are targeted with the highest priority to get them out of the sky before they can do any damage. So what they know or dont know, but theres no way that we didnt have some sort of idea that iran was going to do something. Because they told the world that they would. In fact, Defense Secretary Lloyd austin had moved what were told is about double the assets in to the Middle East that they had back in april. They had sent several thousand additional troops with Air Squadrons in to the Middle East in the last 24 hours alone. Some of most of those have arrived. Thats why we cant see the map, jennifer. Tell us about the map. Let me just tell in the Eastern Mediterranean there are three Missile Destroyers that can help with that interception. We saw in april, the Sm 3 were used to intercept nine ballistic missiles that came in ma of the uss cole, Uss Arleigh Burke and Uss Bulkeley in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Arley Burke was used in a brawl and was successful at shooting down the ballistic missiles. Its notable we know from the idf that about 102 ballistic missiles were fired in this first lobbing of missiles into israel. If you look back in april, there were hundred ten ballistic missiles fired at israel. That was the total number of ballistic even though there were other Cruise Missiles and others. The significance of that is they probably have about 110 ballistic missile launchers. The question is, do they have more ballistic missiles capable of being loaded . Is this just the first shot, if you will . The first round . Have we seen what they can launch in terms of ballistic missiles and as you mentioned, those missile Defense Systems are very, very busy tonight and israel.
