>> harris: all right, we are watching. the day is getting out. we are tilting at any moment, president biden will be departing m david. for the first time in 4 years for those 2. we don't even know if that 2 will shake hands or anything. they will be standing closer together this time. instead of the usual 12 feet, they will be 8 feet apart with their lecterns. the uncertainty and expected fireworks are why it is expected to be the most watched presidential debate in history. one of the key questions tonight is whether biden's weeklong debate prep at camp david will pay off, or will trump do better going out on the campaign trail and having more of a mixed wrap? this is "outnumbered." i'm harris faulkner with my cohost kayleigh mcenany you're joining us today, and their martha maccallum, fox news contributor and president of american spirit enterprises tammy bruce and fox news contributor senior fellow at the american enterprise institute and former speech writer to president bush. i know you and -- i can't wait to get into that. at the white house for us with details on how president biden has been preparing. i'm dying to know. what do you do for a week at camp david with 16 advisors? >> apparently come up with some one-liners. the biden campaign before a single where it has been said. sent out a list of important trump lies to look out for circulating a fact jack on issues like abortion, the economy, immigration and more. according to a new "politico" reports, one thing we can all watch out for tonight is for biden to make an early effort in the debate to get >> harris: didn't do it deny the results of the 2020 election. >> he is honestly not going to present on donald trump who has been out at the rallies. the problem for trump is he's going to answer for all the things he has been saying. >> biden campaign staffers have reportedly been drafting jobs to get under trump's skin. in january 6th after reviewing trump's most fiery social media posts and appearances. biden is guarding himself or trump's accounts on his attacks on his son hunter. the strategy is to "lash a little anger they could resonate with americans whose own families who have struggled with addiction. biden will try to appear as the adult in the room and catch trump's dangerous and chaotic. trump has taken the operas that approach. holding no mock debates. opting instead for policy talks on the campaign trail. >> president trump has met with policy advisors to focus on issues that voters care about across this great country. other than that, he has been continuing with his very busy schedule. he doesn't need advisors to drill talking points into his brain. he knows what he wants to say. >> the trump campaign is resetting expectations for biden. they expect's weeklong study at camp david believes biden well-prepared tonight. they are not entirely abandoning the age issue. >> do you think the guy who was defeated by the stairs makes it 4 more years in the white house? you know who is waiting behind him, right? vote joe biden today and vote kamala harris tomorrow. >> we will get our first glimpse of the president in a week when he heads to atlanta. >> great reporting today. after an entire week away from the white house, fox news d political analyst brit hume is warning president biden that he had better be ready for the debate when it finally kicks off. >> normally you do have to own up to some extent to remember details. but this president is going through is quite unusual. a president by the very nature of his or her job, his job so far is -- the details of these major issues. you have to deal with them all the time. this level of preparation is unusual and probably -- biden is pretty old, and his memory is not so good. people have seen that. they see how awkwardly he walks in all the rest of it. they are obviously trying to gain profits and hoping he can get through this account with donald trump and look like a vibrant man. >> brit hume always knows how to put it. if they are trying to get biden to practice trigger words for trump, i would imagine a trigger word for biden would be, okay, it's beginning now. it's after 9:00. you have to stand for 90 minutes. we will see how he does. the liberal media and democrats have some advice for the president biden. >> joe biden has to go out there with the cell phone on the age thing. i am so old i might not make it through the next 90 minutes without sitting down and taking a sip of water, but i will never disgraced the office of the presidency. >> when an age question comes, and it's one that president biden once, say it is true that i am 81. also, i would like to wish my opponent a belated 78th bir birthday. >> this isn't about my future or his future. we are both at the ends of our careers. this is about your future and the question you have to ask is, is this person going to fight for me or for themselves? that is very clear. >> that started off with an acknowledgment that the president might not be able to stand for 90 minutes. i was joking. i would not expect democrats to be talking about that so baldly. >> strict orders that -- during a cabinet meeting if something happens, please wake me up. >> the problem is, i'm like ronald reagan. joe biden can't address the age issue with a zinger. it's not -- in america. when ronald reagan -- the majority of americans not his presidency was great. joe biden is a disaster. no one would care about joe biden's age if the inflation or low and the border was secure and people's pocketbooks were better off and they weren't paying $125 for a hundred dollar basket of groceries. >> can you call k gp and let her know how that works? martha, it is interesting. they both have the job of president before. they would both be if biden can't hold onto it, two men who at one point didn't win back-to-back terms. we have seen that throughout most of history. usually an incumbent wins. what do you see has some of each man's weaknesses this evening? >> it is interesting that ronald reagan was younger than both of them when he left of office. people think of reagan as this older president. he had some cognitive issues that we became more aware of later. he went 78 when he left office. these gentlemen are definitely into that next generation. also, i am reminded of reagan's sort of jab at -- i won't hold my opponent's youth and inexperience against him. so, it is when it is. we are dealing with 2 older people who have both been president of the united states. when you look at their strengths and weaknesses, earlier debates that biden has been participating in. about 30 plus of them. a long, long time. it is sort of go to has been this smile and kick back. big smile. while she was going on and on and on. yeah, whatever. it kind of did. you have this very sort of jovial senatorial -- been around a long time value. i don't know if he has that anymore. that has been his strength in the past. trump is so uneven. we have seen him go, you know, whole hog each like we saw in early 2020. that didn't work. i think that town hall that brett and i did with him, he was very spot on. i think that is then trump -- he is going to try to beat tonight. >> because of that, martha, not to belabor the point too much. it probably helped trump to be out on the campaign trail. there won't be an audience tonight. voters. as we watched tonight, everybody is looking for a different thing. what do you think independents and suburban women who don't support former president trump -- why do you think they are watching for tonight? >> a lot of what we have discussed is baked in. we have gone through the januar. we have seen him go through a trial and set there and talk about things after the trial. we know donald trump. we are not expecting to see anything different. his popularity remains, because he is always himself. sometimes part of that is erratic. that is donald. we know the circumstances. he's a regular person. you know he is -- suburban women's and others who are making this minds up regarding the economy are going to make sure -- they want to hear what his plans are regarding those issues. >> 73% of adults asked said they would be watching tonight. an interesting poll today. 16% which is relatively higher than what we thought will have their minds changed in nine potentially on who they plan to vote for. >> all the more reason to be on offense tonight. i would say you are walking into a politically enemy territory. there will be a temptation to be on defense all night. go on offense. every moment you are talking about january 6. as a moment you are not talking about inflation. on january 6, i would say you guys are living in the past. you want to talk about one day for ten years ago. i want to talk about every day that you have driven this country into the ground. defend yourself briefly and say, i am on cnn. a cnn analyst said this was the frankenstein case. return on its creator. i believe that creator was you, joe biden. not my cases. the cases of illegal immigrants that have killed america's moms and daughters. one of the women who was killed in the last seven days because of border policies. >> this morning. trump turns to him and says can you name one of these women barmaid. i think after 16 people -- >> he didn't say laken riley. he said lincoln riley. >> i think martha has been a good point. the reporting was that he did that on the fly. but you are pointing to -- go the same thing. well saying the same thing. he better be ready after a week. and so on and so forth. really quickly. how do you bring up the border tonight. but with the zinger be when it happens? >> you are putting me on the spot for the zinger. >> if you know by how often that network does not report the border crisis. >> building on what kayleigh about building quickly and pivoting. on january 6th, the order was secure. inflation was low. january 6th, the world was at peace. that is what the american people care about. speak know that there is no way to do it. >> this is fun. more americans have tuned into fox news media's coverage of critical political events and any other source. tonight, we know will be no exception. you can join us and watch the presidential showdown live on fox news. our special coverage begins at 8:00 p.m. eastern. martha is here and will be there along with our chief political emperor foul anchor we expect him to not only inform us but make it memorable. dana perino, sean hannity, jesse watters part of our special coverage this evening. kayleigh will be on prime time with jesse watters along with a team a fox news political analyst and contributors. it doesn't stop there. we have live coverage of the debate and spin room live from the white house. watch the fox news coverage of the presidential debate. it all starts at 8:00 p.m. eastern and goes into late tonight. trace gallagher is on at midnight. the whole gang, we are altogether. as we await biden's departure from camp david, are the unusual rules at tonight's debate in an effort to keep the blockbuster presidential debate on track or an effort to silence particularly trump? >> i think you want to stay out of it and give them an opportunity. i honestly am not going to be surprised if after this debate tonight we are talking about what a fail this thing was. because the point is for them to debate. honestly, last time around, former president trump kept jumping in. it hurt him. okay, that's why people said we lost that debate. try again on the next month. i think this is going to be very weird. i think with no audience feel in the room. there is no bodies out there. they chose this enormous room to do it in which i don't understand. when they did nixon kennedy, it was in the tv studio. there was no audience. it was a totally different feeling. we will see how it works. maybe not the way -- >> that was a biden asked. >> they agreed to everything. >> the ghost of politics past. one thing that trump could do. i thought it was fantastic. trump is very good at facial reaction. take a look at how he has reacted on the stage previously. >> don't worry about it. i learned, a company. i carried out u.s. policy. north korea and the chinese president and -------------------------------- -------------------------------- to solar and wind. we go he is a chaos candidate. he would be a chaos president. this is troubling. we are at war. he gets his foreign policy experience probably shows. that is not a serious kind of candidate. >> climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the chinese. >> trickled down did not work. >> now they are all gifs that are on social media. then we think about it. i, that requires trump being on camera. oh the joys -- do they show him in his responses?
