"fox & friends" starts right now. and, remember, mornings are better with friends. ♪ >> brian: that that bumper music got my attention i hope it did yours. the first presidential debate one week away and r.f.k. jr. fails to make the cut. >> president biden heads to camp david to press for the showdown with former president trump on cnn. that will be simulcast right here on fox. >> steve: and the countdown comes as a brand new round of fox news polls show a shift in the race for the first time this year. this is big. >> lawrence: we're going to dig into brooke singman has the details. >> brooke: seems unlikely independent candidate rsht jr. will take the stage with trump and biden next week. he missed that deadline to meet the polling and criteria needed to qualify. biden and trump with a large lead on r.f.k. jr. that poll puts biden at 43%. trump at 42%. and r.f.k. jr. at 10%. now, today, president biden will leave his delaware beach house for camp david. he will use the private retreat to prepare for the upcoming showdown. meanwhile, republican senators j.d. vance and marco rubio are helping trump with his prep. they are reportedly focusing on policy discussions rather than mock debates. and for the first time since october, brand new fox news polls show president biden leading trump by 2 points in a head-to-head matchup. but that is within the margin of error. another fox news poll though shows voters still don't trust the president on a number of key issues with trump leading on immigration, the economy, the israel-hamas war and guns. and trump also leading among new voters edging out biden by 4 points. the polls show trump is and biden neck and neck as the november election rapidly approaches. back to you guys. >> ainsley: thank you, brooke. >> brian: like changing the national polls shows a shift two to three points. most would say going to individual polls. obviously it's going to be close, which makes you think that next week's clash is going to matter. and i'm just wondering who has got more pressure to perform. yesterday, i think donald trump was lowering the bar. he is going to be jacked up on stuff. who knows what he will be on. the yelling a bar so low for him and three on one with jake tapper and dana bash. >> lawrence: i don't think the former president could get better people to be within his debate prep. when you have marco rubio, who goes on all the other channels and just goes into the enemy's camp. and he knows what arguments they are going to make. he knows the talking points to deliver strongest conviction. he has faced all the anti-trump questions. and then you have got j.d. vance who is really the conservative intellectual. has a story. i think that works well for the former president. i do think it's a bad idea not -- i understand the standards of the debate. but i think r.f.k. deserves to be on the stage. if you have got 10% of the country. >> steve: where do you draw the line? >> lawrence: doing themselves a disservice. >> ainsley: you have to have at least have 15% of support in four of the nationally recognized polls. and only getting that in three. 15% is a lot. but, it's not enough to win a presidential election. and in addition to that, r.f.k. jr., he has -- he just qualified for the ballot in only six states. >> steve: right. >> ainsley: you have to qualify enough ballots to win the presidential election. >> steve: 270 electoral votes. donald trump is doing -- remember, in 2020, he had debate prep with chris christie. they went in a conference room and chris christie pretended he was joe biden and they went back and forth. apparently he didn't like that. ultimately with the result because this time they're just doing the policy discussion. i was reading this morning that apparently on the biden team they have not yet selected somebody who will stand in as donald trump. >> brian: i think it should be tom shillue. >> steve: is he available? >> brian: he plays biden. this is one of the predators that these kids have to watch out for as they are coming across the border. if you ever went to any of the migrant shelters, the rape, brutally beaten. it's so sad what they have to endure. and you got one that made it across and did is an american now. if you are an activist you should be outraged about this. >> ainsley: was he the one that came across as a 3-year-old or what is that rachel morin's? thousands of parents across the u.s. are pledging to wait until 8. the pledge delays a smart phone until at least the end of 8th grade and no social media until at least 16 years old. it suggests getting your kids a basic phone with no internet access to start. our next guest is one of those parents supporting the pledge, supporting these ideas her mom is leah del%io. thank you for being with us. >> thanks for having me. >> we were chatting during the commercial break you said flying up here it's so hard to not give your child a phone or ipad when are on a plane see a child with ipad. >> or restaurants. on headphones or ipad. >> ainsley: what's your biggest concern. >> my biggest concern. i run a tech company myself and i didn't think i would be one of those tech ceos that doesn't let their kids see screens but it's coming up to be that way social media has been around long enough to know the fallout from it, which is, you know, the addiction to screens that kids have. and the dope amine hit that one gets when they're on social media and getting text messages and having to respond to things like that. that, to me, i don't want to expose them to that to my children such young age. for me it's about limiting it now. having moderation. if we are on a long flight, sure, they can play a came on my phone. but, making it so that they don't have their own online presence and their own device is really important to me. >> ainsley: what's your opinion about wait until 8. moms, dads, schools across the country are signing this pledge. probably about 50 members of our second grade class 00 you are oschool decided to sign it saying we are not going to give our kids phones until the end of eighth grade. we are going to try stick to that they are in second grade now. what are your thoughts about that especially with your tech experience? >> so my thoughts are i think that's great. i think it should be a decision that parents make rather than something that's mandated. so i love the idea of a pledge where people come together, because there is peer pressure for children do be able to interact with friends or they get left out. for instance, they don't know about practice for a sports team because it's facebook group somewhere. i find that myself and not necessarily not having social media apps on my phone. so, for me i think eighth grade is a good age. your brain has developed far more so than early elementary school. but it's not to the point where -- wait longer if i could with my own children but that gets so much harder over time. >> ainsley: several concerns, social media when you are in high school and left out and see pictures of all your friends together and you weren't included, that's hard in high school. at our age we are more confident. it's okay. we can get over it. >> exactly. >> ainsley: at that age it's really hard or if someone is making fun of you, of course, that feels horrible at any age. but, also, we were talking during the commercial break when i'm room to room in my, this is with me all the time because i'm getting work text messages constantly or messages about my daughter's school. so i need to be on it. but i don't want my daughter to see that. >> the devices are designed to keep you on them. and then we interact on them all the time. it's different compartmentalize. a lot of what i think is i struggle as an adult as you say to separate work from home. particularly running a company having a social life. all those things, you know, you want to be able to have time that's truly restorative. to be able to perform better. you can't do that when you are getting a million golf balls thrown at you each day and constantly being reactive. is from my standpoint if i'm an adult and struggle with that, i can't imagine a young child whose brain is still developing it's good for them in any way, shape or form. >> ainsley: let them be children, right?
