[ simultaneous talking ] >> martha: i want to get what's going on with arizona and the campaign swing it is astonishing to look at these numbers this is the arizona polling 40 non45 trump over biden with hispanics 43 trump 49 biden this is a state that joe biden one by 19 points what has happened to the hispanic vote for joe biden. >> absolutely in the drain when you see it it's not luscious be clear he still has like 60 percent of latino votes nationwide but it's not good right now when you see these numbers declining in such a sharp manner because it is key to his reelection hopes you mentioned at the top he is doing a tour through the sun belt looking at arizona and nevada and texas and the reason largely is about the latino vote so he has to be clear especially to noncollege who its shareholders are doesn't matter who is ceo is or how many of the board members are not chinese and every technology company in china under chinese law has to do whatever the chinese government the fbi investigating these calls we have one call that the investigation is completed the capital police had to call the parents and the school about this kid that wonder to kill me these parents need to see if their kids are involved in this because this is a criminal act and i would suggest that we take action swiftly to shut this off. >> martha: i want to put up on the screen this is the chart of bytedance spending on lobbying members of congress from 2019 to 23 look closely at these numbers at home into a 19 bytedance spent $270,000 lobbying look at the number in 2023 almost $9 million lobbying main bays are well-suited to senate how concerned are you about how many members of the senate have received too much money from lobbyists or tiktok and may be influenced by backed. >> when you look at the information and the threat to national security threat that we have that tiktok is a spyware and propaganda app this is why the information needs to be made public a lot of that $9 million has been spent against senator blumenthal and ijaz we have worked on the kids online safety act but it has also been spent to try to say tiktok he's an american company but it is not as senator rubio said it is owned by bytedance the chinese communist party have every bit of access to every piece of data that is generated on your phone if tiktok is on your phone. >> martha: well i'd love to get more specific about where this money is going and who is largely influenced by it on capitol hill a lot of transparency around this so people can understand where people stand on this senator thank you get to see you. >> you gotta thank you. >> martha: the clock ticking for former president trump to come up with half a billion dollars to cover the bond in an unprecedented fraud judgement nothing of this scale has ever been prosecuted before on these kinds of charges they are directed at that man the former president's attorney on this case helena habba and also jonathan turley are standing by to talk about this. >> i built a great company one of the greatest companies anywhere in the country especially when it comes to rooms they have similar greatest assets in the world this is a rig trial by it cricket judge and attorney general we are fighting it out with them we have a lot of cash and a great company they want to take away or at least take the cash element away. >> martha: a significant development in the georgia election interference case against donald trump judge mcafee allowing an appppeal of s ruling to keep fani willis on the case after allegations that she had an improper relationship with the former special prosecutor that she appointed to the case nathan wade who is now off the case mcafee says the case will proceed as usual trump's attorney says they feel optimistic that the appeal could led to that case being dismissed we will keep track that is the georgia case to keep all of these things in their proper silos how about this case in new york the clock ticking on the $454 million judgement against former president trump in his new york civil fraud trial his assets could be seized five days from now by attorney general letitia james unless he secures a bond or the appeals court pauses this judgement the former president posting on prosocial a lot of thanks this is one of them i have before to sell great assets at perhaps fire sail prices and if and when i win the appeal they would be gone. jonathan turley on why he calls this case mob justice but first we go to alina haber an attorney for former president trump it's good to have you with us thank you for being here today tell me a little bit about where you are in this process because in terms of the appeals happening for the appeals court deciding the appellate division deciding they are perhaps going to make some modifications to this judgement. >> our aument in front of the appellate division is that forcing him to sell price properties such as trump tower, iconic properties like 40 wall street to pursue his appeal is manifesting justice it deprives them of that due process that we are all entitled to so imagine you can't reverse selling off trump tower on a firesale and a discounted price we can't fix that if we win on an appeal so it is complete injustice and only a handful of sure dated are approved by the united states department of treasury to underwrite bonds of this size so those even those very limited handful amounts they are limited to policies with even single bonds of two maybe 100 million none of them except hard assets or cash equivalent such as marketable securities the ask of judge in garon is completely ridiculous and he knew that and if he didn't know that he should have educated himself but it is intentionally to interfere in the election and hurt president trump and try to ruin his country and try to ruin a person and family his private company nonpublic company has made the skyline of new york changed forever and made so many jobs created jobs and taxes to new york it's a disgrace we are waiting on those reasons it stated in the appeals and many more but that's just a summary of what were waiting on the appellate division to do. >> martha: do you have any sense of weather or not the appellate division is sympathetic to this argument or what their timeframe might be to respond to it because five days is not that much time. >> not that much time we pressed the fact this is urgent i will say the appellate division has been great and looking at these things in a timely manner and there were days we have taken things to the appellate division and waited to be heard they heard us they definite we can they have listened to our arguments fairly don't forget this case the judge had a trial he disregarded the appellate division that shortened the statute of limitations here and said this case was limited and that he just disregarded it so that in itself should to me show this judge put his nose up to the appellate division disregarded the rule of law and the higher courts and in that alone they should take that into account let alone the other injustices we saw. >> martha: i want to play something for you quickly from the view to get a quick thought from you on this and then i will swing over to jonathan turley let's play what how excited the hosts of the view are about all this watch. >> is letitia james going to go put the chain on trump tower? >> no one wants to lend him the money, in this country anyway who knows what will happen with russia or saudi arabia. >> i can't wait to see the chains on trump tower actually on fifth avenue. >> martha: was your response to the glee around the table on this alina? >> they are poster women for trump arrangement syndrome they should seek help why would you want the country to be an demise people that think like this the hatred i hope they go to church and pray on that whoever they pray to because i don't hold hatred like that toward anybody frankly and i think that people say disgusting things like that on national television door and caring about the people that work there the jobs they created so said saudi arabia russia. >> there are rules and regulations that are public i can't speak about strategy which requires certain things and we have to follow those rules as i said this is manifested justice it's impossible an impossibility believe they knew that i think that's why made trial they changed their ask from 250 million the ridiculous amount of money that they have asked for i think everything is fact is trump does not have much runway left he is at the point where he is committed he cannot stop the plane but he needed to take off because at the end of the runway if he doesn't get that bond he'll be viewed in default and he will lose his right to appeal that would be the worst possible prospect not just for trump but for the new york legal system i think what the court did here was outrageousus they came out with this figure none of us can really figure how he could justify that he could have said a billion or 2 billion because it had the same level of prevalence in connection to the evidence that also the same impact you can't just go to a person and say produce half a billion dollars if you want any other judge to look at what i did and this is a creature of this type of business what bothers me about this is that there are so many ways that the judge could have worked this out to achieve the purpose of the bond the whole point is you don't want someone to flee with their assets trump tower is a fixed asset he will not abscond with it overnight you could take the 100 million cash you can get those types of agreements may achieve the purpose with the purpose seems punitive you saw that on the view that is the point of rage. >> the glee disturbing i think alina a great point because the destructive nature of this at some point people have to put aside their personal feelings and look at how the justices is functioning and ask if you want to be to turn this way on you and do you think that and is there any cooler head at the appellate division looking at this this way you know these courts. >> i hope so you don't have to like trump not to like what is happening here this is one of the premier legal jurisdictions that i think is going have an x essential moment here whether they can separate themselves from the personalities and the passions of the moment. >> martha: what the judicial system is all about it a mostly blind it is supposed to bravery under a whole different type of fire. >> this all came at a to you you say there was a smear campaign against you that you experienced death threats and they basically make your life miserable. >> martha: in washington today earlier i interviewed cavanaugh's former classmate who we heard so much about in those days but he never came forward to speak his name is mark judge ford claims he was there, he was the witness when the sexual assault happens he says he says he does not remember any party as described by her or the attack that she described him here's what he told me about the way, he is very suspicious about why they picked him to have been in the room that night because he says he has no memory of that and he claims that people up around her essentially, this is his hunch, were looking for someone who can turn some dirt on brett cavanaugh watch this. >> the initial letter describing what is happened i am described as mark g. judge which is a byline a youth is a journalist and i was younger no one called me mark g. judge they call me mark judge unless you have researched my past and he found that. >> martha: when he refers to his past is talking about the fact that he had a long history of alcoholism and he had a lot of difficulties in his life he wrote about them in a book and jonathan turley is still with me here watching some of this he wrote a book called wasted about his years at georgetown prep and all of this made him he claims a very ripe suspect for being someone who was in that room i am curious what you think jonathan when you watch the view there are so many questions raised in this case but no one at that table said to her the only person that you pointed to said she wouldn't backup your story nothing challenging whatsoever around the table. >> we all lived through the searing and what was troubling about the hearing was that you basically have accusations and no concrete proof which presented for justice cavanaugh the obligation to disprove the negative and obviously you can't do that no one recollects this happening including the person you interviewed today but that's not enough in today's politics and you sort of capture that on the view where you had a host saying the men weren't applauding enough in order to ratify that you are sensitive you are supposed to applaud like seals every time the host expects you to one can be very sympathetic to both these parties and they have to tell you that i may be a chump but when justice cavanaugh testified he thought he was very convincing and when dr ford testified i thought she was very convincing and i did not leave that hearing saying i think i know who is lying here but that is the point you didn't have any evidence to tip it one way or the other and what people want to say is just make all presumptions in favour of one side but of course we can do that if you believe in fairness. >> martha: this is another sound bite from discussion with mark judge earlier today he has a lot of suspicions about how he was as i said before lived into this and he believes it is not just her contention that he happened to be in the room watch this. >> i got a call from a california number they left a message you like anything with people i like acting with people to you should change her story they were directly trying to extort me directly. >> martha: who is they. >> i don't know it was a cow for a number on my phone i gave the information to my lawyer who gave it to the fbi that's where it stopped. >> martha: a lot of questions obviously about opposition research and he claims that by the time the announcement came around that cavanaugh was going to be in spring court just as or be confirmed for it there was already just loaded weapons to bear. >> you have this guy who became roadkill he didn't do anything just convenient and they picked him and what was left of him was a residue and it's wonderful he can speak now for your interview
