the business community, having shoveled really billions to harvard over the years, has a big, big decision to make. joining me now is rob, an independent documentary filmmaker who has been covering far left activism at american universities. now, rob, i watched one of your documentaries over the weekend. and i was rivetted by it. you know, nice job on that. it was about professor roll alan fryer at harvard. claudine gay embodies everything wrong with higher ed. explain that. >> rolland fryer's life you wouldn't believe it because it sounds like a movie script. right? he is this guy born into poverty poor section of florida. his dad goes to jail for a series of crimes in rolland is in high school. somehow he is able to pull himself from there to become the youngest professor to ever secure tenure at harvard university okay? he is in the economics department. he uses his considerable genius level iq millions of dollars to raise to investigate the most hot topic of buttons. he does not have a political agenda. there is no partisan agenda. is he not for any particular political team. but his research kept blowing up some of the core tenets of wokeness that happened to saturate a place like harvard university. and his career a couple years ago was suddenly cut short by a very opaque shower. case that harvard and it's narnenablers he was a sexual predator on some of thinks staff. we put out a documentary that people can see at harvard cancel roland.com which demonstrates that that was a cynical cover story and, in fact, roland got punished because he refused to ttoe the line that you are expected to tofu are part of the black establishment at harvard university and one of the two people that we specifically identified as one of the alpha architects of roland's downfall is claudine gay. >> laura: why was she threatened by him particularly? >> one thing that helped is we did multiple war games. teasing out what a confrontation would look like in terms of supply chains. economic weaponization. the evidence has just become too big to ignore. i don't think anyone could say with a straight face that china is abiding by the commitments they made when they to the wto. great testimony from former u.s. trade representative ambassador lighthizer very persuasive. what have you here i think for the first time in history a bipartisan report saying we need to move on from the pncr paradigm and adopt a new economic relationship. reset the relationship with china. so we can actually defend ourself from the ccp's economic aggression because the result have been devastating. we see detrailization in the midwest. again a growing dependency on has till regime and debt, debt and more debt. either admire this problem and do nothing or take action. it's time to take action. >> laura: ballooning trade deficit. this is all bipartisan. everyone has to realize. this china should be given a separate test of what is called tariff codes that would make it harder for china to export into our country. now, explain what the tariff code are and don't think we are too wonky. this is important. americans want to learn. go ahead. >> and, again, credit to ambassador lighthizer on this. you can't simply just repeal p and do nothing. so you have to move china to a new tariff column and then imagine different categories of tariffs depending on how sensitive something is. so potentially higher tariffs for things directly related to national security. like ai, quantum, hypersonics, things like that. potentially lower tariffs in things less relevant for national security. the overall point is that china would be back -- i mean congress would be back in the driver's seat in terms of determining what that should look like and would have an annual vote, which we used to have on with china until we actually decoupled that vote and also delinked human rights concerns from granting permanent normal trade relation status. >> laura: keeping is moving this reported to legislation. as i said earlier. how confident are you that the speaker of the house, we're trying to get him on the show, mike johnson, will actually bring this to the floor? >> well, i was shocked. i was just -- actually, i felt really angry because i thought why am i being asked to step into the role of making these life changing decisions for my students and cuttings the parents out? to me, that was so wrong. it just -- it's not something that i felt i was qualified or that i should be doing. i knew that parents -- guys. yeah. look. >> it's their right. >> laura: elizabeth, people watching this across the country going how is this america? how is this continuing to happen in america? and, paul, i know you are currently attempting to hold the district, the school officials in contempt of court. what can you tell us about that? >> so the federal court here, judge issued a 36-page ruling enjoining the policy. he said it constitutes a trifecta of harms. it harms the students, the teachers, and the parents. and you think in the face of a federal court order that they would either rescind the policy or come into compliance with the order at least while they are challenging the policy. instead, what they have done is continuing to defend the policy, which is obviously illegal and obviously dangerous. but, in addition, they are not complying with the terms of the order. they were not supposed to take any adverse employment actions against our clients. and today at over two months. since this order has been issued. they still out of work and not able to return safely. in the case of lori, another plaintiff, they have continued to use bogus complaints that have been made, frivolous complaints as a justification to keep her out of school. it's obvious to us violation of the order. we think the court will be very concerned about. the court set a hearing for january 10th to deal with this issue. >> laura: this have a vendetta clearly. if a parent calls a teacher and says i notice something is going on with my child, what can you tell me about what is happening in class. paul, the way i read that poorly worded policy, that teacher could be in trouble for answering the parent, correct? >> yeah. basically, what they have set up at this school district and by the way this is nationwide, little 5-year-old students can dictate to their teachers gender. dictate that their parents don't get to know their gender. totally absurd policy. the judge in our case picked up on that and sort of in a 36-page very comprehensive opinion exposed all the constitutional infirmities with a policy like this. these are very common policies and this ruling really sets the framework nationwide to be able to analyze them and to sort of undo them on a broader scale. >> laura: it all has to be overturned. you have to go back to teaching. we have to go back to right and wrong. this is obscene and wrong across the board and of course unconstitutional. elizabeth and paul, thank you. good luck. now why is ikea trying to make you ditch your christmas goose plus would you drink refined sewer water?
