>> that promise that the president made give us a lot of solace. and hope. and strength. but it's after 250 days is getting very, very hard to hold on to that. we need -- we want u.s. government to focus on bringing an american journalist back home. >> steve: they were told by the president of the united states. directly that he has a good team working on it. of course, the gershkovich family, who you will meet with the entire interview in about 45 minutes. they did talk to joe biden that one time. i asked him if he has called back. if they heard from the administration. it was just that one time from joe. >> brian: if we're looking to do a swap. evidently we have somebody that we might be able to control in another country picked up in germany. we don't do. this we don't scoop up other people's people in order to swap them eventually. that's our problem. we have values and ethics. and the people that we have actually break the law. >> steve: it's just ridiculous that they accused him of being a spy. and they did it like the day after he wrote a critical review of the russian economy. and, obviously, it rankled vladimir putin. >> ainsley: we know what vladimir putin is capable of. his mom says this is one of the worst prisons. they are not really allowing him to do much. so he just writes letters to her and she is able to send him letters. they also set at the dining room table at thanksgiving. they leave a chair open. because they want him to come home. that's his chair. >> steve: they are just so hopeless and helpless because the only thing they got is the administration. and right now, to them, it doesn't look like they're focused on evan gershkovich and we are doing the story 250 days in to remind the administration don't forget about that reporter. an american journalist jailed, you know, illegally, in russia needs to be sprung. >> brian: the white house correspondents association should be pushing. don't you think? >> ainsley: absolutely. if the administration is watching this morning. please help get him out of prison. and bring him home. becauses. i'm sure the p parents are watching what is happening in israel with the swaps. and whether or not that's right or wrong. i'm sure they are just thinking we want our son home. and they are happy that those hostages are home. but they also want the president to remember their child. >> brian: carley shimkus, you have the other news we were working on this. >> carley: i certainly do. back here at home, guys. a horrible story here. security guard is dead and another hurt after stabbing in macy's in philadelphia. the 30-year-old suspect who has a long rap sheet reportedly trying to steal several hats when he was stopped by security leading to the deadly confrontation. retired nypd inspector paul mauro joined us earlier and said soft on crime policies are emboldening criminals. >> this is what happens when we inculcate in thieves the yufd that they have some right to do this kind of thing. and what you get met with, when you take that away, is righteous anger. they are actually upset about it. shouldn't have happened. you have to enforce with more than a summons. which is all they do down in philadelphia. and they got to knock this out. >> carley: the suspect has not been formally charged in the case. investigation is, of course, ongoing. and check out this new video of a massive group of chinese nationals. look at that, waiting to be processed after illegally crossing into california from mexico. many of the migrants are neatly dressed and reportedly carrying expensive luggage. cbp says more than 24,000 chinese citizens were apprehended at the southern border just this fiscal year. this past one. that's more than the last 10 years combined. a new survey shows 12% of retired americans are expected to head back to work in 2024. the top reason being inflation and, of course, the higher cost of living. when about two thirds of those looking to re-enter the workforce says they are worried about age discrimination. even though it's illegal. experts say it can be hard to prove. one adviser is telling older candidates to update their resumes to avoid this type of rejection. tips include not using an apartment ol email address. and/or including your home address on your resumes. those your headlines, guys, lawrence, we are checking back in with you. you are having breakfast with friends be in clayton, north carolina. hi. >> lawrence: hey, carley, i'm so glad that you did that headline. [cheers and applause] >> lawrence: what's up? it's good to be in north carolina. so, carley was just doing a headline about a lot of retired folks that are saying, look, as much as we want to enjoy retirement, inflation has hit us so hard we're going back to work. and you told me you just retired last year. >> i did. >> lawrence: thinking about. >> definitely thinking about going back to work. we planned our retirement about four years ago when trump was still in office. now the last two years, and i have retired, and now everything is the inflation has gone bad. but i'm worried about going back to work. who is going to hire someone at my age when they can hire someone much younger. >> lawrence: caught in a tough pickle right now. >> definitely. >> lawrence: thank you so much for speaking to me. i also want you all to hear from this gentleman right here. a black conservative. concerned about the direction of the country. and you said that you want the republicans to start fighting. >> yes. so i think every time they hear certain words, they cringe. abortion, crime, immigration. they don't have a policy. the bottom line is if people want unfettered immigration, they should have to pay for it. the people that want it, need to check a box on the irs form and pay the extra money for these people waltzing in here costing us billions of dollars. >> lawrence: who is your candidate? >> donald trp. unquickably donald trump. [applause] >> lawrence: ma'am, i was talking to you earlier, and you say crime is one of your top issues because you know it firsthand. >> yes, i do. a little less than a month ago. an intruder came into my house. and i confronted him hiding behind the door in my dawn dry room. if it weren't for flailing and acting like an absolute lunatic. >> lawrence: you went to self-defense and they told you to be big. >> to be a grisly bear and spread yourself out so you look like you are going to kill somebody. that's exactly what i did. in fact we are going to court in two days this is arraignment and they have kept him with no bond. >> lawrence: no bond. >> no bond. >> lawrence: what is your message to the leaders that want to defund the police and want to be soft on the criminals? >> i just hope that one day you don't walk in your house and find somebody in your house that may kill you because, if we don't keep funding the police and i'm sorry i get upset with this. >> lawrence: no, take your time. >> if we don't keep funding the police and making them the center of our cities and our towns the criminals are going to take over for sure. [applause] if you can hear the common thing from people we talk. to say you hereinflation. folks saying we just had the headline, you see someone that's been impacted. got to go back to work. crime, day-to-day. and then the border. and law and order. that seems to be the main issues facing america. it's reed in the polls as well. i will send it back to you guys in new york. >> brian: thanks so much. [cheers and applause] >> steve: directly contacted that woman. >> ainsley: what a story she has. >> brian: 8 minutes before the top of the hour. still ahead jimmy failla joins us live. >> steve: it was the story that american audiences loveded ae movies. >> do you have any place to stay tonight? don't you dare lie to me. >> steve: well, now, the che thy family made famous by the blind side says ex-nfl star michael oher tried to extort them for millions. that's next. ♪ if you struggle. and struggle. and struggle with cpap. you should check out inspire. no mask. no hose. just sleep. learn more and view important safety information at inspiresleep.com we're travelling all across america, talking to people about their hearts. how's the heart? i feel like it's good. how do you know? let me show you something. it looks like a credit card, but it is the kardiamobile card. with kardiamobile card, you can take a medical-grade ekg in just 30 seconds, from anywhere. kardiamobile card is proven to detect atrial fibrillation, one of the leading causes of stroke. kardiamobile card is just $79 during our holiday sale, a $20 savings. get it for yourselff or a loved one at kardia.com or amazon. for almost 100 years, harry and david has been making gourmet gifts to share with loved ones near and far. because giving is about more than a day on the calendar. we believe the world would be a better place if we all shared more. harry and david. life is a gift, share more. >> janice: good morning, i have friends from utah. what are you doing this week? >> we're seeing new york, going to rockettes and greg gutfeld. >> janice: i'll warn you what you should know about greg gutfeld. he is awesome temperature is cold. we have a warming trend coming our way across the central and upper u.s. you will love the forecast over next couple days. we have a system moving in, potential for rain, quick across river valley. say hi to steve doocy. hi, steve. >> steve: i'm going to kansas city on thursday, it's going to be warm. >> janice: take your shorts and take a picture. >> steve: okay. thank you. upon blind sided, court documents reveal new information about michael oher's attempt to get his adopted parents to fork over profits from the movies. he was asking for money to keep quiet. >> griff: a lot of money, this is a twist in the legal battle between the star lineman and the tuohies who took him in as a deprived young man as depicted in "the blind side." michael oher allegedly attempted to defame the tuohies and expose them as fake and thieves if they didn't pay him in $50 million in royalty money he believed he was cheated out of by the tuohy's. he wrote, if something is not resolved, i will tell the world how i was robbed by my supposed to be parents. how will that look? he dropped the $50 million to $15 million after the tuohies refused to pay
