what a crowd welcome to fifth annual "fox nation" patriot awards. we're show glad you are here, we are live in the year of our lord 2023 at the grand ole opry house in nashville, tennessee. you know i am so honored to be joined by so many of my amazing fox colleagues here in the front, people you know, you see of day. you will see many soon up on stage. it has been 5 years, 5 incredible years of the patriot awards honoring unsung heroes and amazing patriots, this is for you, because of you. you will see, that the men and women that we'll honor on this stage, never sought the spotlight, at the "fox nation" patriot awards the spotlight has found them tonight. [applause] let's shine that spotlight bright, let's do it right now, does that sound good? all right. here to present the first award of the evening, she is my co-host. she is a mama bear spit fire. who as they said about michael jordan, you can only stop -- you can't stop her. you can only hope to contain her. and joining her the man who knows that better than anyone else. two great patriots, my friends ra rachel duffy and congressman sean duffy. >> thank you, pete, we are thrilled to be here tonight. to present the first award for a cause that is very close to our heart. as the proud parents of 9 amazing children. >> they are amazing. >> sean and i are passionate about your education. >> but over the past few years, parents like us have lost confidence in what our kids are learning in the classroom. until one organization became a beacon of home for all of us. >> moms for liberty of founded -- i know they are awesome, were foun were founded by two moms a movement that was so powerful. they were called domestic terrorists. >> let's take a look. we're moms, dads, uncles, aunts, grand grandparents and concerned is thes we are not domestic terrorists, and we will not be silenced. >> a nonprofit, grassroots organization founded to help parents to protect their parental rights. >> we were coming off our term on school board from 1616 to 2020, we like to say we saw behind the education curtain what happened in 2020 is all of america saw behind that curtain. >> we saw parents coming to school district, they didn't know how to engage and make change happen. >> we knew the experience we had could benefit families as they were trying to advocate for their children, i. >> i remember tina saying are we ready to go national, i said to her, i don't know how you say no, moms all over the country are struggling. people starts calling and wanted to start chapters, we're have spread like wildfire all over. >> no body but my husband and i are better equipped to meet the needs of our children. >> our schools are becoming indoctrination camps and a breeding ground for hatred and division. >> really, emergencies never thought we would have to face. >> i don't know about but telling and child they are in a permanent op oppressed state us in america because they are black is racist. >> we need to focus more on raising our test scores and school ranking. >> the heart of the organization is with moms on the ground spanning -- standing up for their children. >> the work is happening it is work, we're fighting for the survival of america. oy love those ladies, welcome to you. [cheers and applause] wildolly parton gave me this jacket to wear it is nice, i am humbled to be here representing half a million police officers who protect our sorry butts. i have been writing about the police for years from alex to non nonfiction walk the blue line, what i have heard from the officers over and over, is thanks for telling our side of the story. part of that story is that there is no such thing as a routine call for help. there are no routine car stops, every calling be a matter of life and death, a patrol man that we interviewed was approached by angry people on the streets of l.a. a woman was yelling at him, you don't care about us. he said, what i be out here in the freezing rain at 3 in the morning if i didn't care about you. i'm proud to be up here standing in for all of those officers, and to be honoring our police tonight, go blue. [cheers and applause] >> 99-year-old andy negra is a testament on the greatest generation spirit, of valor and sacrifice. he is believed also to be the last living member of his artillery unit, he continues to inspire. here is his story. >> armies of the united nations made their first landings on the soil of western europe. this is the supreme moment of envision, this -- invasion, this is frontal assault. >> i'm 99 years old, as far as i know, i am the last surviving member of the 128th armored field artillery, 6 armored division. of world war ii. i'm the last one. >> i saw a lot of hor able things, but you couldn't let it get the best of you, if you can't make the best of of day that the god lord gives you, then you are waiting your life, there so much good you can do to the world. live your life to the best. that is my way of living. [applause] i heard the new figure of 125 thousand of us still left, i have asked god to be the last one out of the 125. and knowing god as i do, he will let me be the last one. [ laughter ] out of the war i got two things, that i'm proud to say, i survived, and the second thing and i met my wife who i was married to for 71 years. [applause] >> my name is preston sharp, i am 17 years old, i was 10 years old when i started flags and flowers. i went out to this cemetery on veteran a day of 2015, with my mom to place a flag on my grandfather's gravesite. his name is george sharp, he was in the navy. i was walking around the cemetery, and it just really, hurt me that our veterans were not being honored. >> he just looked around and was so upset, he is like mom, i don't understand why aren't all of the other veterans in the cemetery being honored with flags and gls and flowers, i told him you have to do something about it if you are so upset. >> so, every weekend sometimes even after school i would come out to the cemetery. and place flags and flowers out. >> thank you for your service, clarence. >> after i honored every cemetery in redding, i realized that i needed to do more, i wanted to place flags and red carnations on veterans' gravesites all over the country it is, mazing to see -- amazing to see never state that i go to people that come out to help me. >> thank you all for coming out today to honor veterans. >> i started honoring veterans when i was 10 years old, i was 17, completing my goal it turned into something that i never thought could have happened. [applause] >> ladies and gentlemen this year's young patriot, preston sharp. [applause] >> congratulations. >> thank you. i don't know where to start, thank you guys so much, i really appreciate it. this award is not for me, though, it is to sp bring awareness to our veterans, they matter, we do care and they will always be remembered. [cheers and applause] and i just can't thank my mom, and my community back home in northern california so much. i wouldn't be here if not are in for them, i appreciate everyone and i appreciate the support, and let's make sure we honor veterans every day not just on the holidays. [cheers and applause] >> fabulous. >> thank you. >> all right we have a few things left to celebrate. in fact, here is a big one, to present our next award is the cast of america's number one cable news television show, the five. welcome. into jeanine pirro. chjessica tarlov, jesse waters, dana perino and janice d. ♪ ♪ >> thank you, pete, we had to call in the meteorologist this is the fox weather award for courage. >> i am happy to be here for fox weather. and jesse weather can be volatile and lethal and what happened on march 24 ising that to look at. >> a tornado tore due the small town of rolling fork, mississippi. taking the lives of over 2 dozen people. >> residents had just seconds to get to safety, including those at a packed family restaurant. >> thanks to quick thinking of one o courageous woman, no one was there injured. >> this is a fox weather alert, right now dangerous storms tearing across the south. >> a life-threatening tornado on the ground, taking aim at several communities. >> rolling fork this is on your door, you have 5 minutes, it is crucial you take shelter immediately. >> 805, i got two messages from my daughter and my sister saying, get to safety. >> there is a tornado. and at that moment, the lights flickered. >> i could hear something coming, i could hear trees snapping and popping. >> and i just hollered cooler. my husband opened the door when i said cooler, he started shoving us all in 9 of us, as he closed-door he looked up the roof was gone, he said i see the sky. >> wall was caving in. >> we're squeezed tight and crying and screaming and praying. >> you could hear the -- the cars hit up gain the freezer. >> then it stopped. >> >> building was gone. our vehicles were totaled. >> everything that we could see was just demolished. >> i didn't think we were going to make it out alive. the only thing left was the freezer. [applause] >> thank you. tonight we stand united under the banner of resilient and heroism and unwavering dedication to our fellow map, my brother's heheroic acts of 9/11. etching his story into the hearts of our nation. he ran with 60 pound of gears on his back through brooklyn battery tunnel towards danger toward the unknown to save lives. that same spirit of courage and selflessness flows in the veins of are all our heroes, and most certainly my brother fdny firefighter steven stiller for whom this award is being named. >> this year in nashville faced an unthinkable tragedy when a gunman entered the school. >> nashville a finest just minutes to get to school and take down the shooter. >> all locked down we have two kids we don't know where they are. >> okay. >> let's go. metro police. >> we went through that door. not knowing what i was walking into. started cleaning rooms as fast as possible trying to find where the shooter was. >> we're were up stairs in the hallway. in the art room. >> art room. >> please, hurry, i hear him. >> they are coming. >> just try -- okay try to stay quiet. >> be quiet. up stairs, sounds like up stairs. go. go [ sound of gunfire ] >> move, move. stuff moving. stufstop moving, suspect down. can. >> breaking tonight, three nine-year-old children and three adults murdered this morning at a church run school in nashville. >> police were quick to arrive on scene as police ran toward the sound of gunfire preventing a larger tragedy. >> they did what we are trained to do, they formed together, and went right in. knowing everyone that second, every moment, wasted could cost lives. they just wanted to save kids. [applause] >> tonight -- wire we're here to honor the men and women who turn toward danger to safeguard others embodying the spirit of my father, and soul of tunnel to towers f foundation, please welcome the first recipient of the steven stiller, tunnels to towers patriot award. >> thank you so much. thank you, appreciate it. >> detective and the officer could not be here tonight. but we will make sure they get their patriot award, i have to ask you the question on minds of every american, why did you decide to go in on that day? >> that decision was not a decision. it was what was going to happen.
